so far... FH and I are slightly above what we set out to spend on the wedding. I'm sure it will keep growing!

trying to stay under 32,000 total, but the reception is costing around 22,000+ so i know we'll go over.

we're having a 9 month engagement.
the cons: we don't have a lot of extra time to save money for it the pros: getting it over with quickly before we add anything else!

Us too (engagement twin ) However, we are fortunate enough that my father is putting in a set amount and his parents are matching that amount (which is sooooo nice since we are both 'older' and pretty financially secure). We agreed to kick in however much we go over the budget. We're anticapting having to kick in about 10k. It's a LARGE, LARGE wedding!

I think everyone exceeds their budget becuase there are so many little things that you dont think of at first that really add up!

we never set one - not because of infinite resources but because i knew whatever i came up with would be unrealistic and i'd beat myself up over going over budget. so we're just trying very hard to be reasonable every step of the way. and now that the most expensive things were decided - band, hall, photographer - i think we'll end up spending a total we both feel comfortable with.
This is my method too! I think it will meake me sick if I add it all up!

I don't know what you mean by the word budget! I never heard of it!
We keep increasing our budget... but hope to stay around where we are now. I am trying to pay for as many things up front as possible. I have talked to some vendors about payment plans, and so far it is working. I would rather give a little at a time beforehand, so I don't feel the sting as the wedding comes closer.
