One of my very dear friends who is a male is going through alot of problems with his girlfriend.
They have been dating for about 3 years and it has been horrible from the beginning. They fight ALL THE TIME- they are just two very different people. He is romantic and sappy and she is cold and uncaring. He is rigid and a creature of habit and she is spontaneous. He is a saver she is a spender. I guess you get it.
Anyway the writing is on the wall that it should be over, but he won't do it. This is a guy who has dated ALOT and he is tired of it, he wants the security of a relationship and he is forcing it to work.
I told him that as a man it is easier for him to just pick up and find someone nice- where as with women it is a bit harder, as we are pickier and there is a shortage of men.
He totally dis agreed. He says we have it easier.
Thoughts??????

I think it is hard for both sexes, but for different reasons. I think your friend will realize that he is with the wrong person and move on, but people need to do it in their own time.

I don't think its easier for either men or women. Men just have an advantage in that it is more socially acceptable for men to approach women, and not the other way around. But once you've approached a woman, its all equally hard...

Kysha here is my take on your friend-It will be worse off in the end if they get married and they would get a divorce. Tell him that it costs more to get a divorce over getting married. It’s true!!
FH’s best friend was married for no more than hmmm 3 months!!! WHY because he chose to be something that she wanted and not himself. I was not sure about the relationship when FH told me his buddy was in to church (no offense for those that are but this guy NEVER was), going to Bible classes….. Not the guy that I knew at all. No drinking, smoking. Everything came to an end. She would start nagging him to come home if he was over FH’s house. Just stupid things that started to take a toll on him and now they are no longer together. She then had the audacity to try to take every dollar that he had. The court system in divorces is so one sided. Kysha I can go on about this for days!!!

I know what your friend is going through - a friend of mine just ended a three year relationship because they both knew it wasn't goin anywhere.
On the topic of men and women, I feel that both have it tough - people out there are SO SELFISH!!! not just guys but girls as well. I DO THINK, though, that women have it a TAD bit worse because we all get that biological clock ticking ticking ticking. Also, from personal observation, I see that more girls tend to be looking for that type of security than men - but that could just be the people I know!!!

I don't think either sex has it easier. I have a lot of good quality guy friends and I can say its hard for them to find a women with beauty and brains.

FI has said in the past girls have it easier too....I guess they think we usually have the ball in our court when deciding if we want a relationship with the person.

I think men have it easier- I was watching a dating story today and thinking how lucky I am not to have to go through that crap anymore!

i agree that neither have it easier...BUT if hes a good guy and looks in the right place....he is sure to find someone. hey, lets try a matchmaker thing for him! post his credentials and pic and lets see if the girls can find someone he feels is 'better' than his GF now. that would be fun.

Re: Who has it easier men or women?- LONG
I remember a few years ago there was a study done on who is more affected by a relationship ending. The study showed that men are more affected than women and that it takes a man more than a year to recover from divorce or a breakup of a long term relationship, while it takes a woman approximately 8 months. Apparently men have a more difficult time letting go. However, men tend to find another mate much more quickly because they do not like to be alone. Women take it slower because they are afraid of being hurt again.
This makes sense to me. It took my ex husband 4 years to finally sign the divorce papers!!!!
