FH and I don't live together yet either. You're not alone.

Me!

We've been together 6 years and it was important to us to wait until we were married to make it feel like a big step. WE felt like marriage was a life changing step, so life should change!

It's been difficullt because we live about 45 minutes on average away from each other, so most of the time our time together is on weekends, he'll come to me to spend a night or 2, and I'll go to his house on Sundays and once or twice duirng the week after work if we're not exhausted... but that's how we've spent our whole relationship. We've taken trips together and had a few extended stays here and there, so we have a taste of what it's like to live togehter... and I can't wait cause I'm so sick of driving home at 1am and having to get up for work the next morning!! I just can't get my *** up to leave him during the week when I know it's going to be 2 or 3 more days before we get to ee each other again. Enough already!

Also, it helped us save a lot of money because I live alone and FH had the option of living at home rent free, so I'm the only one having to pay rent.

I live with my FH but we mainly moved in together because we lived about an hour and a half away from each other and both our parents are really old school. His mom would only allow me to stay at their house if I slept in the living room and my mom would only let him sleep over if we slept with the bedroom door open. At that point I was 26 years old and thought it was time I moved out on my own. I knew FH was the one I was going to marry even back then. But I can see the benefits in waiting to move in till after marriage. I think both ways are fine :):):)

I dont live with my FH yet...and we have been dating for 8 YEARS!!! we are sooo done with the driving home every night business!! lol i just cant wait til we can go to bed together!!! but yea, my family and I are kind of old fashioned i guess so we are waiting til we are married to live together! I think its great not living together before because we will totally get to 'play house' when we first move in together..and it will be soooo fun using all our new stuff from the shower!! i cannot wait... In my opinion if u live together before its like u come home together after the wedding and its nothing new..same old..now u can just say ur married..but JMO.. i cannot wait to cook dinner and even wash our dishes and do our laundry...and if i was doing that for years before we got married, im sure id be sick of it by now and it wouldnt be exciting!! and we have been dating 8 years and we are together EVERY day...so i know exactly how living with him would be...so i dont need to live with him before to try it out.. so anyways ur not the only one!! lol

I moved in with FH about a year and half ago. We lived together for a year before we got engaged. Our familes are old school too..my dad wasn't even born in this country, but we are both in our thirties, and we did what was best for us. In the past, I always said I wouldn't move in with someone before I was married, but I think it was the best thing for our relationship. I think it is a matter of preference.

I am!!!! Although we are buying a place and will probably move in June, I am waiting to 'officially' move in after the wedding. I want to have that feeling that there is something different about being together once we're married.

Moved up from FL 2 years about to be with my FH, so we decided to live together to save money. It feels like we have already been married for 2 years :)

We have lived together for 2 1/2 years. We moved in after a year. Financially it made sense and I was always petrified that once i moved in with a guy after we were married that everything would annoy me. Looking back if we waited till we were married it would be seamless because we just work together right. But it has saved us over 30k in rent so I can't complain!

Re: who here does NOT...

I'm presently living in sin with my FH.

It's a really funny story how i came to live with him. My oldest sister came to visit from GA for xmas about 3 years ago and I cleaned out the drawers in my room for her to use and put all my stuff in boxes in my closet so that when she left i could move it back easily. I was also crashing with FH for that week so they could have more room. (I have 4 sisters!!! So imagine them plus my nephew plus my parents all in one space and only 2 bathrooms!!)

So I go to work one day and i get a call from my youngest sister whom I shared the room with, saying that my oldest sister has gone cleanliness nazi and is moving all my stuff out. I wait to freak out until I get home, where all my stuff is in bags in the hallway, not once did i mention I was moving in with FH at this point, we had only been dating 5 months!!!. This all wouldve been avoided if my mom had taken my side on this, I hate that when sister comes to town she wants nothing to do with the arguments. And she made no attempt to stop her. So I call FH up screaming like a looney asking him to come pick me and my stuff up while he was at work. He left early came got me and my stuff. After I had a few choice words with my sister I stormed out and never moved back in.

im right there with you! i feel like I'm the only one too! We started looking online for apts and my dad just told me one of the people he works with has an apt that may be ready this summer and the price is amazing, and im still close to home/work. hopefully it works out though! hehe if anything, he would have to move in, and i would after the wedding (but lately I feel like my parents are coming away from that rule - my sister has been living with her bf for over a year (just got engaged in dec) soooo yeah. lol

I do not live with FH and we've been together for almost 12 years. My family is really traditional. FH asked me to move in with him right after college, but my mom would have freaked. Also, I like the idea of marriage as a new adventure. FH moved into what will be out apartment last month and we're working on setting it up together.

Re: who here does NOT...

I never 'technically' lived with him. He moved into his Grandfathers house when he was out of work to take care of it while his parents were selling it (his grandfather is in a home). I pretty much stayed there on a semi permanent basis a few months before we got engaged and then after we got engaged. Now the house has been sold and we both moved home with our parents. We spend nights together and some apart but I miss him terribly when we are not together. I couldn't imagine not having lived with him before. Its a great way to get to know each other intimately and to know whether we can.
