Just curious...I live on Staten Island, and my fiance lives on LI, and I feel like it's so hard to do anything, since it's not so convenient for me to run back and forth to vendors, and schedule times when my parents can go, his parents can go, etc... Not to mention that I'm a full time grad student with very little free time to begin with! Anyone else dealing with the long distance planning thing?

Staten Island is inconvenient? Try planning from San Francisco

I planned from Dallas and only went home two times during the planning! And it was one of the best weddings I've ever been too!

I am planning from Chicago. The internet and this site has really helped. I have gotten so many ideas and tips on who to consider when choosing vendors.
Make as many phone calls as you can, ask questions and then make appointments. Try to schedule them 2-3 hours apart to allow interview time and travel.
Things could be worse.... It costs me $300-400 to come home after paying for airfare and rental car. I have been home twice since the engagement in Oct and we plan to make one trip in Jan and another in March.

I'm planning from atlanta georgia.and I also use the internet for everything, and this web site is the best thing ever... All of the vendors I have spoke too are so helpful as well.. good luck if you need help let me know!!!!!!!

Another long distance bride here - planning from San Diego. Luckily, though, I will be moving back to NY during the summer when all the wedding planning really starts to heat up! :o)

I'm planning from NYC so I'm a similar situation to you Jax - plus I have no car so I also have to plan with parents to borrow car. It's definately a pain but I guess we can't complain considering.

LOL Can I switch with you!!! NYC and Staten Island would be SOOO much easier...lol.
Luckily I got a lot done before moving out here but I can't really come home often with airfare at $240-$400 - for each trip.
I am in Michigan - Robeymuse is also planning LD. She is in St Louis

I'm planning from Westchester.
Similar to the Staten Island /Brooklyn/NJ situations--its not too far to drive, but you have to make sure you can get weekend appointments & I feel like I can't make any weekend plans, b/c I might need to rush out to LI.

We've been back to NY once (first time fi was ever in NY), for a little over 24 hours - and in that time we had to see the reception hall, find a church, meet with a priest, meet with photographers, and get a gown.
It's difficult but actually kind of fun!

I am planning from MD...and it seems these last couple of months I have been in NY every 2 weekends. It been a pain, but my parents have helped out so much. They meet with a lot of vendors, when I couldn't and have made a lot of decisions.

I planned from Atlanta, GA. as well. I found everything I wanted on the internet, had my sister check out some places prior to me going home (as I did twice before the wedding). All worked out perfect and had the best time EVER! You'll be fine...

This website is awesome and I use the internet for everything. It makes it a lot easier, because when I go to NY I have all the vendors that I want to go see.
