Just curious...I live on Staten Island, and my fiance lives on LI, and I feel like it's so hard to do anything, since it's not so convenient for me to run back and forth to vendors, and schedule times when my parents can go, his parents can go, etc... Not to mention that I'm a full time grad student with very little free time to begin with! Anyone else dealing with the long distance planning thing?

Me We both live in the Bronx. We originally wanted to be married in the Bronx at my college chapel but we couldn't find a reception hall we liked that was in our price range. So we found out we could be married at my old parish (my dad's current parish) and found a reception hall we liked. It's not that hard, I'm down on LI every other weekend visiting my dad anyway.

I am planning it from St Louis! It is hard but I am trying to get in done. I got alot planned before I left NY but the last 5 months are hard. Luckily my vendors are accomodating.

My Fi and I are plannig from Albany....it is easy enough to come home but it gets to be a little expensive..I am making the trip this weekend to get stuff secured for Pre-Cana

We are currently planning from NYC, which admittedly is not as difficult as out of state - but its really difficult without a car to get things done. We are also in the process of buying a house in Westchester, so we are all over the place! Soon I can say we are planning from Westchester!! I can't wait for it to all be done!!!

I planned mine from the Washington, DC area, as did JoRo, slpbridetobe, rvcpl, Becky, and Anniegrl and flyin'bride are doing it now. We actually got a group together from time to time down here to meet, chat, and compare notes! Plus I actually found it easier in some ways...in that we packed vendor meetings into the weekends we were going to be up in NY. It actually made for less obsessing and stress that way.
Hey, BrideJamie from Maryland, where do you live? Are you in the DC/Baltimore area, too?

Another Chicago bride here. Thank god for this and vendor websites. I've been back to NY a couple of time since we set the date and am off to NYC next week. My family lives in Brooklyn so on top of all the calls there is also the hourish drive each way to meet with vendors in LI. Its all good though :)

I'm planning from CT, it's not too bad, since it's about an hour away, but it definitely puts stress on us, since we have to schedule everything for the weekends... It's very interesting though...

I'm also planning from CA (SF Bay area). We are having a kind of long engagement because of it (19 mos to go!). We have a few things already booked, thanks to my parents taking care of it for us, and a lot of the other major things I am hoping to get done when we go home to LI for Christmas next week. HOPEFULLY we'll be moving back in a year so we'll still have 6 mos to be hands on before the wedding.
