I always thought the tradition was that the bridesmaids throw the shower- anyone know differently?

A lot of times the mother or a relative of the bride will do it too. I have no idea who is doing mine, but I think it's both my mom and my BMs.

See I had heard that mothers throw showers, but I was under the impression that they were not supposed to cus it is like family asking people to bring you gifts. I always hear different 'rules' and am never sure what is supposed to happen. And Im nervous cus my mom lives 5 and a half hours away. Haha Im sure it will work itself out though!

I dont think there are any hard and fast rules anymore...I've heard of the bridal party giving and I've also heard of the mother(s) giving the shower. My BP is giving me mine

I don't know who will be throwing mine, but I am throwing my sisters...by myself. I told my mother that I wanted to do it. I'm nuts!

My mom will be the main person throwing it (and paying for it, I'm sure), but I'm sure my BMs will be big contributors to the plans.

my mom and MIL split the cost /guests for the hall and my mom paid for everything else---decorations, cake,wishing well,games/prizes/favors...everything else...
MOH paid for some little stuff...we were MOH for eachother one month apart and ours mom said not to let either of us pay...
my other two BMS were both in school and had no income so my mom felt bad asking them to pay for anything ...but they did offer
JR BM mom- my cousin- didn't offer
FGs mother- my cousin- did a lot with and for my mom- she really acted as my sister- since I do not have any

my mom and sister are..its what they do..my BMs are all over the country..only one of them lives near my mom and sister..so she will probably help

my mother is paying for the shower location but my bridesmaids will plan everything else...(invitations, favors, games, decorations..etc.)

My mom paid for most of my shower but I know my BMs chipped in and my Grandma helped too.

I think the norm these days is for the mom to throw the shower (decide when and where) and the bp is always welcome to help with decorations, favors, guest list. Sometimes the bms chip in, sometimes they don't
