So here is my situation. Who is walking me down the aisle...well, my parents are divorced. While i love my father, he hasn't exactly been 'there'. i know he loves me and is proud of me, but child support was always late and when you are 18 and see that your father doesn't want to help you financially, it doesn't go unnoticed. My step-dad and grandfather are also like fathers to me. But my mom was and is everything...she rocks and i love her and i asked her to do the job. but she is uncomfortable (shy and would prefer g-father does it). AAAGGGHHH.
However, my father feels it is tradition and while he has not exactly offered to help with this event, I also am not one to hurt anyone intentionally...while he has hurt me on many occasions, i just don't have it in my heart to do it back! I thought about following the Jewish processional, which is EVERYONE walks down the aisle, but i know that if he gets to be a part of it and is the only one not helping financially, everyone will be PISSED!!! FH wants my mom to do it and says stick it to my dad, but as i said, i am not like that. Any advice???

But has your dad said anything to you?
Given the history, my Dad knows better than to say anything. My mom was the one who was always there for me and, to me....she was the obvious choice.

At first I was just going to have my dad do it. But the more I realize it, the more I want my mother to be apart of it as well.

My stepfather and my brother. MY father died when i was 4 years old... And my stepfather has been in my life for 15 years..and he has been very much like a father to me.. But i also have so much respect and admiration for my brother and he has always been a strong man in my life. And i love him very much... I love both of them very much that is why i wanted both.

Alone....my father and I do not get along too great, and were not speaking at all for a while....we're working through our differences now, but I figure I am an adult, I live with FH, IMO I don't need to be 'given away' by anyone....
I did just decide recently to do a father/daughter dance, which is huge considering that a few months ago I was questioning whether I even wanted him to come to the wedding (long story)!

My father passed away in 2001. My mother will be walking me down the aisle and I would like for my grandfather to also walk me down if he is up to it by then.

I will be walking down with my dad and stepdad. My dad hasn't been the best father throughout my life and hasn't offered to help out for anything with the wedding. I still love him and would feel guilty forever if I didnt have him. My stepdad raised me and has been there for me through everything so I thought he should have the honor along with my father to walk me down the aisle.
