Please tell me if you are wearing a veil over your face? I didn't want to, but my Mom in law wants me too. Is that still tradition? I hear many brides don't do it anymore. What do you thinK?

its funny bc on the 08 boards the other day someone did a poll to see how many did this or will do this. It was almost split the poll, maybe more who yes are wearing a blusher.
I didnt think i was going to wear the veil over my face, it was a last minute decision. I decided i wanted my dad to have his moment to life the veil off my face
but honestly it doesnt matter how many people are doing it or not doing it, only thing that matters is that you do what makes you happy

I did and loved having it on coming down the aisle. My dad unveiled me just before he handed me off to DH. I loved how it looked in pictures too.

Its really up to you and what you're comfortable with, not what FMIL wants. I chose not to wear it, but many brides do. Its your day, your veil!

I think a lot of people do, I didn't because it felt really weird to me with it on, and I asked FH, and he said he thought it was weird and creepy....so I didn't do it. If my dad was disappointed he didn't say anything about it....I also wanted a really simple single layer veil....

I wasn't going to, cause my veil didn't come with one, but my mom really wants me too, so once my veil comes in, I'm gonna have to find one that matches.

I wasn't originally but now i think i do. It'll still be a simple veil but just with 1 extra layer
I am iffy on this...I originally thought no but mom was upset and the whole tradition of it seems appealling to me so I have to think on it some more...

i am...i think it is nice...personal Preference though...i think you can be beautiful either way. Especially with all the veil options now....you have so many different things you can do.

i dont want to sound stupid but..i always thought that the groom lifts the veil up when the priest/officiant says 'you may kiss the bride'..so it's suppose to be the father who lifts the veil?

the part where 'you may kiss the bride' is at the end and during the ceremony the bride has the veil off her face. It is the father who does it, ive seen it a few times where the groom does it, the blusher does not stay on during the ceremony

See I think this is why I didn't want to wear it. After reading some of your responses I am sad. My father passed away in 9/2003. I have that in my mind that is his moment to lift up the veil and pass me off. I guess If I totally explained to my mom in law she would understand. I am just an emotional person and am having a hard time with this.

awww i am so sorry who is walking you down the aisle? if your mom walks you down the aisle then she can do this for you, theres no rule that it HAS to be just the father, anyone special enough to walk you down the aisle can do this. Also ive seen grooms do it sometimes.
Also, tell your FMIL that its your decision to make and to stay out of it

My nephew will walk me down. He is only 19 but he was my Dad's little man. My sister had him when she was 18. So My Dad basically raised him and was the son he never had. I never asked him yet because I keep expecting something to magically happen. I saw in a magazine a round picture type pin that you put on your bouget so I am going to order that. I will have a pic of my Dad & I. I know he will be with me as I walk down. I am not close with my mom since my parents divorced early on...blah, blah.

My mom thinks I should... most people in my family think I should... but I'm on the fence. Especially since both my mom and dad are walking me down the aisle... I'll think it'll just look too 'uneven' if I turn to my mom for a kiss and turn to my dad to pull back my blusher. So I don't know yet, but I'm considering it. I think some brides do and some don't.
