Your engagement party? We trying to do something small with immediate family and our 4-person bridal party. Without going into further details I'm just wondering if parents threw you the party or what?

We're having 2 engagement parties, as I grew up on LI, and my FH grew up where we currently are living. His mom is paying for the engagement party up here, and one of my bridesmaids offered to cater another party at her house. Although myself and a few other bridesmaids are going to chip in the food cost/making the food

Both sets of parents paid for our 'family eparty'. FH and I paid for our 'friends eparty'. Family eparty was 60 people at a restaurant w/o any of our friends or BP, so FH and I had a BBQ at his parents house that we cooked and got drinks for. Our friends stayed for 9 hours!!! Pretty good party if you ask me ;)

My parents gave us the e-party. My FH parents gave us a really generous cash gift. Both sets of parents have really been great.

we didnt throw one bc neither family offered, and we really didnt want/need extra bills right now.
Those who wanted to send a gift, did so. Basically all of FH's family bc my family sucks.

My parents are paying for all the food and drinks. FH parents gave us cash that cover the wait staff and decorations. Were taking care of the actual place, tips, and the photobooth.

We had two engagement parties
First one was family only and was split between our parents
Second one was with our friends, and FH and I paid for it.

This! The upside is it's going to be a great party at no cost to us! The downside is I would have preferred something more low-key and intimate but since I and my family are not footing any of the bill we kind of lost that battle. But it will be fun either way and we definitely appreciate it!

My dad threw the party for us. We had it at our house. My dad cooked and paid for the food and alcohol...FH and I paid for a tent/decorations/keg/etc. I guess you could say it was a joint effort!

My parents paid for most of it. My sister gave us a lot of help and his parents made food also. We just had a big luau in the backyard. It really was a lot of fun.
