I offered to pay for one of the less expensive ones you can order online (I found some for like 40-50 dollars) but SIL doesn't want to go that route, she wants to order one in a salon...
I don't have the $$ to buy one that's over like $75. Is this my responsibilty? I have no clue?

Re: Who paid for FG dress?
I don't believe it is the Brides and Grooms responsibility. If you can afford that is great. I knew from get we couldn't . I take RB and FG the same way as BM and MOH when asked to be in a wedding party you should know that you will need to dish out for attire. My sister's kids are in my wedding- and she chose $300 dollar dresses for both my nieces...I can't fathom why she would spend that money but hey I'm not dishing it out

Re: Who paid for FG dress?
i'm not paying for mine... i'm having flower girl's mother pay. i also didn't pay for the tux for the ring bearer. I was always under the assumption that the bridal party takes care of their own attire (within reasonable price ranges).

Re: Who paid for FG dress?
We paid for FG dress ... she is my and FH's goddaughter and both parents are in the wedding. I don't think we were obligated to by any means though, we just wanted to help.
ETA: The one I loved was in Davids Bridal and it was $100 and I could not afford to spend that $$ on the dress... Another bride told me about 'My Girls Dress' website and I found the same exact dress for $45. HTH!

Re: Who paid for FG dress?
FBIL is the BM and FSIL is a BM and their son and daughter (FH's neice and nephew) are the RB and FG and FSIL paid for the FG dress...
I think it's known that the BP is responsible for their clothing for the day unless told otherwise by the bride and groom.
Some of the dresses that FSIL had us looking at were in the $300-$600 range and there was no way that was happening lol

Re: Who paid for FG dress?
My cousin(who is also a bridesmaid) paid for her daughter's flower girl dress. I offered to help with it and she told me to eff off. It is nottt your responsibility.

Re: Who paid for FG dress?
I think you answered your own question
'but SIL doesn't want to go that route'
You are willing to buy a dress but if she's rejecting it, then she should be the one paying for it. Perhaps you can volunteer to pay the deposit and SIL can pay the balance when it comes in.

Re: Who paid for FG dress?
I have a daughter. She is now six and has been in numerous weddings. I have always paid for her dress.
The most expensive dress anyone ever asked me to buy for her was probably $100. Buying a child a dress that costs more than $100 is ridiculous. They are only going to wear it for one day. If you get lucky and it doesnt get ruined (which let's face it, white on a child is going to get dirty and probably ruined) they are going to outgrow it in less than a year anyway.
I bought the dress my daughter just wore at my wedding reception at Kohls. I think I spent $30 on it. It was great quality, it twirled when she danced and she loved it. It got dirty by the end of the night but who cares. It was $30. Here is the link...
I think its nice that you offered, so if she decides to get it elsewhere for more money, thats her choice. My Mom was nice enough to buy my FG dress. I don't think its your responsability though!

Re: Who paid for FG dress?
i have two FGs - one is 8 months old and the other is 3. the three year old, my grandma bought her gown (it's her great grandaughter), but if she didnt her mother would have.
for the 8 month old, i bought a cute white dress at target for her to wear for $20 since she's gonna be held anyway

Re: Who paid for FG dress?
I paid for mine. They were $25 from JC Penny. I wouldn't pay for them if they were from a salon. Those things are $200!
My cousin is still offering to pay for the FG dress. She said it's her responsibility.

Re: Who paid for FG dress?
My FG was my cousin's daughter. I told them that they could pick out any dress that they wanted as long as it was white. They paid for it and bought her shoes and gloves. I paid for her head piece, necklace, and FG Build a Bear.
