Who Pays for Wedding?

For us it is:

My parents - a little over 50%
Me (and FH) - about 30%
FH's parents - about 20%

If you factor in HM also, our contribution goes up since we are paying for that too.

$3700 seems low for some but keep in mind for everyone who goes off on a 10k Bora Bora honeymoon, there are probably 2 couples who go to Florida or Canada bed n' breakfast for a $1000 week-long getaway, and a couple who just wanna honeymoon at home. :)

Personally, I would be too stressed after the wedding day to go anywhere. Just wanna come home and veg for a week in the comforts of own home! :)

Just curious as to who's paying for a wedding nowadays with escalating wedding costs. The national avg I heard is 25k. It seems the trend is more couples are paying for their own wedding... I could be wrong. :)

FH and I are paying for the Church costs & honeymoon. My parents are paying the majority cost of the reception with 1/3 being paid by my FIL. We'll be under $15,000 when all is said and done.

We're both teachers and planned a December wedding. We will have off for a week in December after the wedding but since we wont be living together before hand I think it would be exciting to have off together, set up our new place, and relax. Then we will plan a vacation during Spring Break. As for spending a fortune on a HM that in not in our future either. We will go to an all inclusive resort, relax on the beach, and will be spending no more than 3,700.

As for paying for the wedding:

My father is paying a huge portion
My FI and I will be contributing
and his parents will as well but we're not sure about details. All I know is that I will get to spend the rest of my life with the most amazing person in the whole world and that although I would like a lavish affair (if I could afford it) thats not whats important to me.
