My MOH, my sis, lives far away and is in still in school, so I guess normally she might have the responsibility to plan this but I don't see how. Does the FMIL and my mom do planning? Should I just approach them about it but tell them I want it to be a surprise so just let me know they can help my MOH and I know someone is doing it, but that is all I want to know? How far in advance of the wedding is the shower?

I know my Mom is going to plan mine. But I've also attended ones where the MOH or bridesmaids throw it...so it really depends.
according to tradition it is the MOH and bridal party that throws the shower...not your parents. These days no one follows the rules though so who knows! I guess talk to your mom about it. Either she can throw it or she can talk to your BP to chip in

I hosted one bridal shower and the entire bridal party and both the MOB AND MOG helped out. so i guess your FMIL and your mom can help out.

The bridal parties I have been to the MOH and the bridal party does all the planning. Hope that helps!

My mom and my sisters are planning my shower- Bling Bling theme woo hoo. Tradition is that the MOH or Brides family plan the shower and the groom family plans the rehersal dinner.

It depends really. I have seen Moms planning it and other times, the Bridal party. I think in my case it will be my Mom and my sisters. I am excited. They told me they picked a location with a huge stone fireplace because they want to have my shower in the winter.

my MOH cannot afford to throw a bridal shower, which is completely understandable. I think the rest of my BM's and my mom and FMIL are working on it.

Usually, the MOH does it, if feasible. But, my Mom's doing mine because she wanted to and it's easier. It really does depend on your situation and where everyone is geographically, financially, etc.
