Ladies, I'm confused...if I book a DJ, do they provide the music for the ceremony? And cocktail hour as well? Is that the standard or something optional that you discuss with the DJ when meeting with them?

with the DJs i met with, i think it was like $25 or even free for them to provide music during the ceremony, but that is just for CD music. What we did was hire live musicians (piano and flute) through the DJ company to play while guests were arriving and during the ceremony.
As for the CH, CD music again is included in the DJ package or you can have live musicians as well. We were going to have the musicians stay from the ceremony to the CH, but it was a little costly. We decided just to have the DJ play music in the background. although it is nice to have live music, everyone is talking anyway. this is something the DJ will probably mention and go over with you.

If I were using them, my DJ would have set up outdoors...but we're getting a guitarist through the DJ to play the ceremony and CH.

Most of the DJ packages that I saw included this all in one variation or another. We had to talk them down on price since we didn't need it!

The DJ or the church can play the music for the ceremony. For the cocktail hour, the DJ normally handles that. Just pick a package that includes the CH or some DJ's charge a little extra for it.

I agree. I have never seen a DJ in a church though usually the church musician.
