Not me... I think that is a Southern tradition... But I could be wrong.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it, I actually like the idea.

I had one for my husband, my mom made it. It was a football with gray and black icing since he is a huge Raiders fan. It was cute and we gave it to him at the RD. It is a southern tradition.

I had one made as a surprise to my DH at the rehearsal dinner. 2 cakes at our wedding would have been too much. It was decorated like our alma mater's basketball court, and looked great! It was a huge hit and my DH was very surprised

Feel free Wacky! I just hope a car comes out nice. I'm afraid that it may look funny. Does anyone know of a great place to get one? I also have the victorian chain pulls I will use with that cake at the rehersal dinner. FH is going to kill me for spending extra $$$ on it but her really LOVES mustangs.

I will have a grroms' cake.

My FH is West Indian so black cake is a must.

I will box it up and give it out to our guests.

I had a groom's cake at the RD dinner. It was a replica of Fenway Park. I totally surprised Scott with it. He thought it was great.

Like Nrvbd, we had the infamous black cake at our wedding, which was given to guest as an addition to our cake that was provided by the hall!!

Groom's cake is a southern tradition. My FH is a Texan and insists on having a groom's cake at the wedding. A Texan friend of his recently got married and the groom's cake was on the same table as the wedding cake (see pic below) so there's no swaying him to have the cake at the RD. I was thinking of having the groom's cake shaped like a cowboy boot - as those are his favorite casual footware.

We also had our groom's cake at the wedding -- I suggested having it at the RD but my DH insisted to have it at the wedding. We did a chocholate cake wiht the University of Florida logo on it which is both of our alma mater. It was a nice addition.

My FH is from Baton Rouge and a cute southern boy, so we are definitely doing the grooms cake. but i am hoping to do it at the RD!
I was also thinking of using university colors/theme (LSU for this boy). Stef, where did you get yours done, did you like the way it came out?

Betty - another great one would be a mustang, but FH loves the OLD ones that were the muscle cars of the 70s. Any idea where to get a cake like that done?? PS- would your FH know where i could rent an old mustang for the wedding? (Dont' laugh) it would be FH's dream come true!! I cannot find any place that has the old muscle car mustangs! -- any help would be appreciated

I plan on having one at the RD of Homer Simpson!

FH's favorite character of all time. I am also going to give him a bag full of Simpson paraphernalia. He saw it on CRIBS and was drewling (sp?) at all the items some guy had.

I'm having one, but to be served at the rehersal dinner. I'm having a horrible time finding a bakery or baker who will do a football helmet cake though...if anyone knows of any bakers/bakery I would love some info
