Based upon what, do you chose this special person??
I think it should be whoever you are the closest with. I think of MOH's kind of like GodParents. Some choose based on obligation (relation, etc.) but you should really choose based on will they support you and your marriage (or in the case of God parents, your children), be by your side, be responsible and reliable? Can you count on them? And can the rest of the bridal party count on them?
Thanks.. Im having a problem with the person who I chose to be my MOH, shes not honored at all, she has not shown any interest whatsoever, since the day I asked her to be this, she has not asked not even once anything related to it. She has been close to me for many years now and I thought it was appropiate, but I have other people who are great friends who I recently met and whom Ive gotten very close with who show way more interest than she ever has and have actually offered their help many times. I dont know what to do??HELP PLLLEEASE!!
i think if should be the person you are closest with and who you feel are going to be helpful to you thru out the entire planning process. you should be sure the person is responsible too!
If she's showing no interest, have a non-confrontational conversation with her. Put a spin on it that you don't want her to feel burdened and if she'd rather bow out, you'd be o.k. with it. You might be a little hurt but you'd much rather she enjoy your special day with you in a capacity that she is comfortable with (i.e. guest, shoulder to lean on, etc.).
Mine is my bestest friend. The person I sat with when I was a little girl talking about my wedding and my dream man. She is the person who has always been there for me and always will.
if i had a sister, it'd be more difficult to choose, but my MOH is my oldest and still one of my closest friends.
My sister is my Maid of Honor. She is only 18 so I named my best friend Matron of Honor. They are having a good time planning things together. It wasn't a hard choice for me because that set up made sense.
I chose my best friend..because I dont have any sisters or cousins. But you are able to choose anyone that you feel that you have a special bond with...This person should want to be involved and if she isnt I would talk to her about it...
I think that in addition to the person being t he closest to you, who is able to clearly support you and your vision....you also need to look at their character in this world....do they value love, marriage and fidelity......do they respect and admire the institution of marriage? If so, then the chances of them taking an active, vested role in your wedding planning increase. I struggled with this decision for a long time because those who are closest to me don't really value or understand loving someone to the point of 'forever'....and I just couldn't put them up there, standing by my side. It's a very, very personal decision....that I took very seriously. It goes far deeper than my 'best friend' or my 'cousin'. Everyone makes this decision for their own reasons though...and my concept is just one of many. You have to take time to listen to your gut.....
Someone you want to stand next to you on your special day. Don't just have your sister b/c she is your sister. Have someone who really means a lot to you.
My MOH has never been a question for me. I always knew it would be my best friend for the past 20 years. I have sisters and knew that they didn't want to be involved in the wedding party, and that fine, because my MOH goes above and beyond in her friendship with me. She is THILLED to be MOH and has gone above and beyond in this role as well. I couldn't have dreamt of anyone better! She is the perfect MOH, and a sister at heart!
My MOH and I have almost 20 years of contstant friendship. We talk and hang out all the time. She loves my FH and my relationship with FH. She is like family to my family and I couldnt think of anyone else in the world who I would want to stand there more than her.
I chose my sister to be my MOH, because she knows me the best and is the one that is going to be helping me plan most of my wedding. She also goes with me to all the appointments with halls and vendors
I chose my sister cus even though we sometimes bicker, we understand eachother and are always there for eachother. And we pretty much grew out of fighting. LOL.
