Re: who takes home centerpiece?

Some people do games to raffle them off. I opted not to raffle them and gave them away myself at the end of the night!

Re: who takes home centerpiece?

I'm not even going to worry about that...let the guests decide. Most of the time, when you have a DJ they play a game (you'll never see a band do this) and it take up some (not alot), but some time.
I'm still looking for a florist, but I could tell you this...they will be roses and enough for each of the guests at the table to take a few.

I am doing guest book cards, and hopefully everyone will complete one. Then we will pull out one cards to give c-piece to.

Re: who takes home centerpiece?

I was going to have the DJ do a game but opted not to-

At the end of the night whoever was the last one to leave the table took the CP. Luckily there were no arguments.

Re: who takes home centerpiece?

for those that are playing games but don't want to drag it out- i read somewhere about placing a little piece of paper underneath their plate or something and the dj/band makes an announcement to guests to lift up the plate and if you have that paper - you win the centerpiece.

Re: who takes home centerpiece?

Jag, that might be the easiest thing to do.

My DJ suggested that, but I was at the point where I did not want to do anything else.

You may want to try that.

Re: who takes home centerpiece?

Just a suggestion...

I went to a wedding where they asked one person at each table to take out a $1 bill. Then, they played the music and we passed it around like a hot potato. When the music stopped, the person who won the centerpiece wasn't the person holding the $1 bill... it was the person who took the $1 bill out of their wallet

Re: who takes home centerpiece?

our centerpieces were break away--which meant at the end of the night--everyone left with a bunch of flowers from the centerpieces. By the end of the night out of twenty , we had 4 left. One for each of the parents and us...

Everyone loved the idea and my flowers lasted for a week and a half later.

ask your florists about it, they know but they don't offer....

Re: who takes home centerpiece?

I'm not a fan of the games...since I feel that they break up the party...

what we did was announced at dinner that the guest with the birthday closet to that day wins the centerpiece...

that way I also could say happy birthday when I saw someone leaving with a cp...

Re: who takes home centerpiece?

We had the hall tie a ribbon around on glass per table and the band announced that whom ever had the glass won the centerpiece.

Re: who takes home centerpiece?

I have heard of pennies being taped under chairs and whoever had the penny under their chair got the centerpiece . . . .

Re: who takes home centerpiece?

July 2004 I love that idea also!

Moms suggested the DJ ask who traveled the farthest at the table & give it to them, or who is the oldest. I'm gonna talk to our DJ more about this.

Re: who takes home centerpiece?

Sue, I went to a wedding where they did the same $1. bill person won.

If you would rather 'give' them to someone, then don't play a game or anything and at end have mom or someone whisper to whomever. I think that may cause some issues at some tables though...
