This hurricane is extremely powerful and is very large so it will effect a lot of people in different areas. We can only hope it goes out to sea.

I think everyone needs to chill out a bit. Yes, take the proper precautions and be safe, but there is no need to get all worked up and hysterical about anything just yet. I live literally across the street from the beach in Long Beach. We will be taping up our windows and such, and prob staying at my parents house in Hewlett, but that is for safety reasons. I think there are a lot of people getting hysterical before there is reason too.

This morning on the train there were women almost in tears. That I think is a bit much this ahead of the game.

Like I said I think people should take the proper precautions and be safe, but if you get hysterical it won't make matters any better.

Sorry if that sounded nasty, I am a bit cranky this afternoon.

I think we need to make sure we have the necessities needed in case we lose power.(Batteries, flashlights,candles,etc.)
Getting hysterical never helps anyone. We just need to be cautious and prepared in case we're affected.

I just want to know what the news is saying. I have not been able to sit down and see a forecast yet. I have all the necessities I need. Canned Food, BBQ fluid, chip, water, and JACK DANIELS.

And all the candles I need too!!!

I am just worried if the power goes out, what the lodge will say about party, reschedule, refund

Jenny, see what the forcasters say tomorrow. If it is headed this way, I would call the place and ask them what to do in that situation. On Saturday, things should be better so maybe you have nothing to worry about. Keep fingers crossed.

Exactly what Kim & Sue said. We won't know anything until Thurs/Fri. Being prepared is the best we can do. Living on LI, we ALL know what it's like during a hurricane and how to best prepare for it. Hope all are safe.

i think the news loves to sensationalize this stuff. it will be rain and wind by sat, nothing. i hope!!!

It's a huge storm and will affect most of the eastern seaboard. Personally, I think we will be getting a lot of rain, with possibly flooding, and some winds. I don't know if there will be school on Friday, since NYC schools were closed when Hurricane Floyd came for a visit 4 years ago. But I'm a bit worried about my parents, who moved down to the North Carolina coast about a year ago. They will definitely get hit.

The newscasters do go a bit crazy with things sometimes. The good thing is when they get on our nerves, we can just hit the remote and shut them off.

Honestly, I don't think we'll be too affected by this storm. If you look at the track on the news, it's not even coming near here. The Carolinas are in for it though
