This goes back to my previous thread about Cousins w/ out a date....now would it be appropriate for them to bring a date even if its just a friend??? NOT a person they are in a relation ship with but they don't want to go to a wedding to there younger cousin w/ out a date?

Re: who to take as your date?
If you invite someone with a guest, I do not think you have the right to judge who they take as that guest. JMHO. Just decide on guest or no guest, then let them make that decision.

Re: who to take as your date?
one of FH's cousins is in my bridal party and even though i know she does not have a boyfriend I am putting and guest on her invite because i don't want her to feel awkward at the bridal party table where everyone else will be sitting with their dates. just because she isn't dating anyone doesn't mean she can't bring a friend or someone she's close to. like rachel said if u put and guest on an invite u can't really decide who they bring...it's totally up to them.

I agree. You can't dictate who people bring as their guests.

I feel this way, too. I know for a fact my step sister is bringing a female friend. When I put 'and gues' it's knowing it could be anyone.

Re: who to take as your date?
My mom and I were talking about this the other day. My cousin just recently broke up with her boyfriend, so my mom didn't want to put 'guest' on the invite. I was ok with that, however, my aunt was not. We wound up putting inviting her with a guest. My mom was worried about the same thing- bringing a friend. But we decided we can't dictate who she brings... hth

me too. when you put 'and guest' it doesn't come with a disclaimer 'at the discretion of the bride.'

I agree. And although I know that many would disagree with me I do not think it is unfair/inapprpriate to invite some adult guests by themselves without a date. A line has to be drawn somewhere. Maybe I do want to invite some cousins or friends, but can't because I can't afford their dates (whom I do not know). I have been invited to weddings alone and I am not offended.

Re: who to take as your date?
As soon as you invite someone with a guest, you must smile and be cordial to whoever shows up. Hence the reason my cousin is not being invited with a guest. He brought a pro to my sister's wedding.
