Who were you closer to as a child...

Your Mom's parents or your Dad's parents? And did that change as you got older?

When I was little, Mom's parents were the 'fun' grandparents. Took me places, had a good laugh, played games with them. Dad's parents were the A typical German old schoolers, serious, no smiles, etc. I did stuff with them, like fishing, beach, but they were just very, very serious and didn't quite 'get' me. As I got older, I grew to appreciate them both more and the valuable lessons they could teach me. I still cry when I think of my Grandmother, we grew to be extremely close during her last years. I still have my Mother's mother who is as wacky as ever. She'll be 94 this year.

I guess my paternal grandmother for a few reasons ... my dad had summers off, so I think we may have visited her (she lives in the Hamptons) when he was off & my mom was working.

Also my mom came from a big family, so if it was a holiday where both sides were having a BBQ or something, we'd skip hers because they most likely already would have a bigger turnout. And I think because her side was large (and spread out somewhat), each family would do their own holidays most of the time.

My mom's side and for alot of the same reasons that you stated. There was also a big age difference between the two grandmas and I think that accounted for my relationships with them.

How awesome that your grandma is 94! God bless her!

Mom's side. But they are gone now (my grandparents).

Honestly neither. I really dont know what its like to have grandparents. Only one was living when I was born. She lived to be 94 and died a little over 2 years ago. She was not a loving mushy type, so we never really did stuff together.

Hard to say. We lived 5 minutes from my Dad's father and mom - so I was close with them. I think I took them for granted a bit, cause they were SO close.

But Mom's mom (dad passed away) was always such a special trip that I would look forward to all year. I think I was equally close to both - but in different ways :)

Now three of my GP are deceased, so that just leaves one

Only my father's mom wsa alive. her and her husband (who I consider my grandfather) were wonderful to all of their grandchilden. My grandmother passed away a few years ago and my 'grandfather' still attends all family functions.

My mom's mom (father's dad died before i was born, and my mother's father died when i was 18 months old).

After my parents divorced, my grandmother took care of me, so I am much closer to her.

My mom's parents because they were more grandparent-y.
Of course, we spent some time at my dad's parent's house because they had a pool and a dog and a tree house.

My moms side...after my father died they moved in with us so my mom could go to work...but even before that I was always closer to my moms side - cousins and all...my dads family lives in the same neighborhood as us as well...guess I just always remember my moms side more

My grandfathers bothy died before I was born, but I was DEFINITELY closer to my mom's mom. I mean a million times over!

definatly my maternal grandparents...I used to spend my summers with them when I was little. My dad's family is a little too selfish...so we're not really close with any of them

My Mom's Mom.

My Dad's parents are total lunes. And, the reason my father refuses to go to church. They're Catholic deacons and abused their first 4 children.

My mom's

my dad's mom died right before i as born, she was rather young too...i heard she was a wonderful woman and i would have loved her, and i am a lot like her, but unfortunately i never got to meet her

my dad's father was an alcoholic, didnt live too close to us, not far, but not close...and he came around, but not too often, he died when i was in 6th grade, so i didnt know him all that well

My mom's mom, I miss so much.. she died one month before i graduated high school... she is the one person i wish could be at my wedding...I was very close to her! She was truly the best!

My mom's dad I was close to as a little girl and i have many memories with him, but he died when i was eight. many of the memories i dont actually remember myself, but i remember the stories... he was a great man!

i didnt have too much luck in the grandparent department, since I am not lucky enough to have any with me at my wedding, but to answer the question, i was def. closer to my mom's parents...

Always my mom's parents. My dad's parents moved to Florida and never had much to do with me and my sister. They're not even coming to my wedding. Part of it has to do with the fact that they're elderly, but they could travel if they wanted to. They're just not close with the family.

We lived with my mom's parents, however, I was still very close to my dad's mom. all of my g-parents were fun to be with. my dad's mom was so cute and caring. my moms parents are very hard working and were more like my parents than grandparents (just b/c we lived with them).
