saw this cute cake topper ad on Inside Weddings earlier. it's a personalized cake topper where everything is a life-like replica of the couple. i have a cake topper already and just for kicks, decided to inquire about it...

and was quoted $7,500

seriously?!?!?

EDIT: i simply HAD to ask the vendor if it was a typo or why it is that 'cheap'? here's what i got back...

Standard cake toppers on the market are manufactured where the one time cost of sculpting the piece is spread over many, hundreds if not thousands, of pieces keeping the cost of the individual cake toppers down. These however are one of a kind sculptures and are created to your likeness with every aspect of the piece being original to you. It is sold only once, so all the time, talent and energy that goes into it must be reclaimed in that one sale. Each sculpture starts from scratch and is done entirely to your specifications. There are no “stock” bride and grooms in my work. I strive to capture not only your face but your entire body posture, attitude and gestures. This would be a sculpture of you and your fiance’ as you will look on your wedding day. After the flowers are wilted and the cake is gone, this will be yours to show your grandchildren one day. I hope this explains the reason for the cost.

jmho, even the explanation is not good enough for me to shell out that much! $7,500 to look at for my future grandchildren... i think they'll prefer the wedding album and video to this!

i'm sorry but i think it's hideous and this woman is insane for charging that much

i'll stick with my $35 topper any day! it's sooo much cuter, HANDMADE, and cheaper
