I never saw a themed wedding. I can't imagine making one for myself. To me it would be too similar to a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. I'm Jewish and I have been to many of those. They ALL had themes. Wedding themes are not my style - too theatrical for me. I just want a party.

I'm the minority, too! We're doing a Star Wars theme. All the music for the ceremony is from the soundtracks, the place cards will have names of places in the films instead of numbers, The centerpieces may be talking Darth Vader masks and there will be a bunch of lightsabers for the kids (big and little) to beat each other up with! I'm also looking for lightsaber keychains to use as favors and we'll probably use a black invitation or make one ourselves. Lyssa

Re: Who's doing a Theme/No Theme
We're going with a Theme .....And no that doesn't sound stupid - it should be all about what you guys want - to be honest it will probably be more personal then a Theme - One of the main reason why we are doing a theme is because the hall is decorated for the holidays and I just wanted everything to flow

We are not doing a theme. At first I thought about doing a victorian theme but I changed my mind.

I'll be in the minority!
I am totally doing a movie/40's esque theme. I keep on calling it '1945 Rainbow Room with Cary Grant at your side' It's the only way I can describe it!
The Floral Terrace used to be a theatre - still has spot lights!
My STD's will have a movie theme I'm doing the 'Have a Seat' place cards The girls will hopefully have that 40's feel to their dresses - so will I. The menu cards will be some sort of movie thing. I'm using flowers indicative of the era and lots of jewel tones. The NYC to go after the wedding will def. lend itself to the theme. In the hotel rooms, I want to have giant 'popcorn' tubs filled with water, candy, etc. ETA: My Frank Sinatra singer! The boys with fedoras and maybe spats (frank wants to wear them!)
Hoping my mom carries with it for the shower!
I'm still thinking but working slowly but surely to it.
I'm excited to do something different and do it to its fullest!
your movie theme sounds really interesting and different. good luck with it all.

WOW-my FI would go head over heals with this idea. He is such a huge star wars fan. He owns every single bood imaginable. and i mean every single book.

that's how we are. we see , we like, we go with it. we want everything to be elegant and basically traditionally, but at the same time just want to have a huge party.

Kind of but not really... we have a golf thing going on... FH is huge into golf, as is most of our families.. Naming the tables after courses instead of #'s... (My late Uncle would love this.. so my stepmom and our fam will be seated at his favorite course- Augusta National) Our favors (one of many) are personalized golf balls and tees... Trying to keep with the 'greens' theme... lol

Re: Who's doing a Theme/No Theme
if a color can be a theme, my theme is blue...and candles...
other than that, I am naming my tables after Shakespeare sonnets (HUGE fan), but I am not dressing like Juliet...so I guess that's not a theme
I was thinking of doing a 'HELL FROZE OVER' kind of thing....I mean, it HAS been over 10 years!! LOL
