Since this topic has come up a few times, thought i'd see where everyone stood on the issue. . . Yes, you love him/her - but at the end of the day - who's getting the raw end of the deal when it comes to inlaws?

granted, the definition of 'normal' is relative - but my FSIL refuses to drive on the highway and her husband doesnt have a license - they live in queens (about 3 miles from us) and call us ALL THE TIME wanting us to drive them and their baby around.

It's a toss up! My parents are thankfully completely uninvolved in my life, except where it concerns my younger brother and sister. His mother and I used to be 'okay'... But I dont think she realized how serious we were, and when it finally hit her, it freaked her out. So she started picking on me. It really bugs me that she bad-mouths FBIL's girlfriend (with whom he has a daughter). If she talks that way about her, it could just as easily be me.

Hands down my FH, both of my parents are deceased so he does not have to deal with them. His mother is starting to like me, after 2 years of hating me. So, I really can't complain about her...right now.

He is! My parents, may not be perfect, but they love both of us, and have done alot to help else over the past year.
His Mom drives him nuts, talks about me, from early on put doubts in his head that he didn't deserved me, what kinda of parent does that???

I am definitely. My grandmother walked into the engagement party and just started aying how me and FH were fat and how his 10 month old niece was fat and how FH's brother was fat and on and on. I wa so embarassed.

Don't get me wrong his parents are very nice - but I think he is getting the better end of the deal in some ways.

I think part of the reason he is marrying me IS my family. In fact he has said so... My parents are the greatest though, happily married and he lost his dad when he was little.

I think we are even. My mom drives my FI crazy and his family makes me wonder sometimes, but overall we love both sides. I am a lucky girl :)
