Re: Who's going to allow the smooshing of the face??
I hope I don't get that! But, FH is pretty good and maybe he will put a little on the nose and that is it!
Though, it can be funny!

Strange statistic that I read somewhere a couple of years ago said that couples who intentionally or unintentionally smooched the cake had an 80% divorce rate

Re: Who's going to allow the smooshing of the face??
There is no cake going in this face! Throw cake and there will be some problems. I worked at a catering hall and have been to 100's of weddings. I saw a guy dump the cake on the brides head. They were so wasted. Fun for the workers to watch but not to clean up. Have seen many cakes get smashed in faces. But for the most part there was no cake smashing. I don't get that concept at all.

Re: Who's going to allow the smooshing of the face??
we already agreed that the cake smooshing is not an option, he's 44 and im 32 so we want something thats going to stay on a tasteful level, we are working too hard in making this a beautiful and upscale affiar to have it ruined by 'THE SMOOSH'

Re: Who's going to allow the smooshing of the face??
I wanted to not exactly smoosh but maybe put a little on his nose, and he forbade me, not that he ever really forbids me to do anything since he knows that won't work with me..but he pleaded with me not too, he hates when ppl do that at weddings, so I figured Id do him the honor and not do it

Yup, that is exactly what I thought when I read this thread subject. We talked about it, because I think that tradition is AWFUL, IMO, because it is like, 'I love you so much and married you but want to be hurtful and smash cake in your face.' Kind of passive/aggressive, I think. My FH knows, if he does, it will be a very bad honeymoon.
Related to that - does anyone else get SO annoyed when guests (usually drunk ones) egg the guy on to do it, and boo when he's nice? Boy, I don't like that, jmo, but it's so rude.
