Strange statistic that I read somewhere a couple of years ago said that couples who intentionally or unintentionally smooched the cake had an 80% divorce rate

I'm telling my FH that one - that's pretty good!!!

I hope I don't get that! But, FH is pretty good and maybe he will put a little on the nose and that is it!

Though, it can be funny!

I agree... it can be cute and funny but it better not be messy. I don't thing FH would smoosh the cake in my face though - he would be too afraid of staining the way too expensive dress

I say no way, he thinks yes. He has been planning that moment even before we got engaged. I told him if it gets on the dress i will be soooooo upset. I dont mind a smoosh around the mouth, but i dont want it on my face either

smoooooooshing is fun !!! - we are going to do it a little. I don't think it takes away from the 'tastefullness' of the event to have a little cake around the mouth - it's reflective of our personalities to be playful. I told him 'only around my mouth and nose - not near my eyemakeup!' And divorce is not an option - that statistic is silly.

No way. Not my thing. There are a million other 'fun' things to do with each other at the wedding. I never understood this one at all.

I'm for it. I think it's funny.
I'm always the one asking someone to smell the peanut butter or whipped cream just so I can tap it into their nose!
We won’t be all out cake smashing but a bit of cake on the face never hurt anyone.
It's funny and makes people laugh.

P.S Who ever had enough time to figure out the cake smashes had an 80% divorce rate had way too much time on there hands.

A little more info on the statistic since it sounds silly all alone like that. I read it in an article for one of my marriage and family therapy classes on predictors for divorce early on in the marriage. The stat referred to dilberate cake smashing in the face- not a little smooshing or drunken playing around. The article suggested that it showed animosity that already was present in the relationship. I hope that eases up the debate- I never put it out there for those who enjoy a little playful cake smooshing- sorry if I offended anyone- not my intent just an offhand mention.

Not Me! I'm not paying all that money to get my makeup done so it could be ruined. I already told him, but you never know it might be a different story on that day.
