Who's going to Maui for their HM?

Im doing some research and found a Winery, here's the link
but other than that, what's everyone doing? Besides chillaxin & snorkling & stuff like that?

We're certainly going to do day trips.. Any suggestions? And how far would those sites be?

I'm not going to Maui for our honeymoon b/c we went last year... LOOOOOOVED MAUI!!!!

There's SO much to do. Obviously the snorkeling and lounging around. You can also wake up really early one day and go see the sun rise over Haleakala (a mountain); it's said to be amazing. You can take a day trip to Hana if you rent a car or go with a tour group. You could take the Trilogy catamaran over to the island of Lana'i (this was seriously the BEST thing we did in all of Hawaii!), go to a luau, take a helicopter ride, etc.

So much to do if you want to!

Do the road to Hana. It is all about the trip there, a once in a lifetime trip.

Hey girl! We just got back from Maui for our HM. Beautiful!! We booked the Old Luhana Luau. You have to book it early b/c they get booked up. WE also did the Volcano bike tour. It's EARLY, but worth it. They take you up a volcano to watch the sunrise then you go down it on bikes. You get picked up at 2AM!!! At least you don't kill the day and do it in the middle of the trip. Lots of great restaurants too. Go shopping in Luhana.

We didn't do the road to Hana b/c there was an earthquake in Nov so they closed one side of the road which means one road there and the same road back. A couple we met said it was a 10 hour day.
You gotta drive around and see some waterfalls.

We just got back from Maui! We loved it! I would recommended a moonlight cruise, we did that and loved it. When we went we saw whales and dolphins. Go into Lahina for shopping and drinks. Also recommended Spagio in the Hilton.

We just got back from Maui in April, and the part that is closed on the Road to Hana is after the actual town Hana. You can drive to Hana itself. It did not take 10 hours at all (that is on a tour bus). We started at like 12 noon, and got back at 5 pm (our hotel was on the totally opposite side of the island at the Ritz)...and we stopped along the road itself. It was raining on the way back when I drove and it was fine. There are cool water spouts, and lava tunnels when you get closer to Hana to see.

To anyone going to Hawaii, I highly suggest going to the library and taking out the Frommer's books for each island you are going to. We did this for all 4 islands and brought the books with us, so we could go to must see places that we wouldn't normally know about.

I would search in the books of things along the way to other sites, and we found a lot of cool things to see.

Plus, the books are free, and you just return them when you come home.

Thanks girls!!

I actually already have my luau on schedule & we're going on a 'plantation' tour... not quite sure what this is My TA booked it for us.

I was advised by ALOT of people [old & young] to NOT do the road to Hana... they called it the 'road to hell'
So im undecided about that still. I did hear that the banana bread on the way there was awesome though

Definatly going to look into these suggestions though. Thanks ALL!

The road to HELL! LMAO!!

I think it all depends on what your idea of 'Hell' is... For Vinny, who likes to watch documentaries on Monkeys and dissect whether or not they have EVOLVED in the last 100 years, it would be GREAT FUN! LOL for ME I would rather hike INTO a Volcano than do that...

So, it's all about what type of traveler you are. Vinny thinks the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum is the HAPPIEST place on Earth--- I would rather stick PINS in my eyes than go there.

So, I would consult your TA and have her explain what The Road to Hell (lol) entails and then decide if it is your bag or not...

My above example was based on reviews that I have heard and the TYPE of people who enjoy it (like Vinny) vs. the TYPE of people who don't enjoy it (me).

Hey, just got back from Kauai, Oahu and maui (it hurts to say that) and had a really great time doing a whole lotta nothin! I mean, we did none of the things we were told about just because we really liked just hanging around the beach and pool, and working on our tans. But seriously, If you had to do one thing for nightlife sake--- go to Warren and Annabelles on Front street. I surprised my DH who absolutely loves magic tricks and believe me- you will not be disappointed. Warren is hillarious and it was a great time. I just read from another LIW bride that they went here and loved it. Enjoy

That's too funny... yes, I heard it's the Raod to Hell also that's why we decided not to do it. Totally up to you. I'd rather sit at the bar outside and go swim. Figured it's an excuse to go back there.
