We are thinking of booking mexico....who else is planning the caribbean during hurricane season?

I am going on a cruise to the eastern caribbean. Is my first cruise ever...but I am not to worried.

We are getting married at the end of September and are thinking of booking a cruise from San Juan to Aruba, Curacao, St. Maarten and St. Thomas, then we will be going to Florida and it will be hurricane season there as well.

Whats funny is that I have gone to the caribbean during hurricane season countless times and never worried about it....I have basically been up for the last 36 hours debating whether or not to book our trip. UGH

did anyone here have a bad experience during hurricane season? you really only hear of those rare extreme examples.... i went to the caribbean during hurricane season and had beautiful weather the entire time.

This is exactly why we're having a hard time deciding on a honeymoon. We decided not to go to the Caribbean because it's hurricane season. Honestly, it's not something I want to worry about AT ALL - even though the chance is sooooo slim, I just don't want my honeymoon to be the one time a hurricane hits while I plan to be down there.

I've been to the Caribbean a ton of times during hurricane season and never had bad weather.

We will be going to the Caribbean . . .probably Jamaica. I went last year on a cruise in August and had AMAZING weather.

i went to dominican republic two years ago in august during hurricane season. we stayed 7 nights. the weather for the most part was phenomenal, i think one day it stormed pretty hard and the hotel lost electric for a bit (the hotel is a WHOLE different story ). anyway back to my point - we risked it and the weather for the most part was really great so i wouldnt worry about it - just buy travel insurance in case a storm hits last minute and you have to rebook or go somewhere else. my friend had to rebook her cancun vacation after that last big storm hit - they were able to change to cabo and still got their dates and price and had an amazing time!

I've been to the caribbean twice during hurricane season. That's the time I usually travel because of my job, but haven't had any bad experiences. Our first cruise together, we just missed Katrina. Our ship could not dock in Tampa, so we were bused 4 hours to Ft. Lauderdale...what a ride!!!! On our second cruise, last year, we arrived in Florida before a hurricane passed through the islands. Besides the busing and the delays, they were both wonderful experiences! Although I would never think of honeymooning on a cruise ship.
