My family does this all the time... especially my older aunts and uncles: 2010... we're not gettting any younger, Joanne... can you move it up?
Only if you can pay for it, and my house... otherwise... no. They're cool, though. Once I jokingly asked if they were willing to contribute so I could have it when they wanted. They left me alone.

that's a great response. i said something similar to my dad who was pressuring me to get married in 09. I thought i was doing him a favor by giving him more time to save for the RH! I told him to lend me the money for all the other stuff...i'll pay him in 2010 and then i'll get married in 09!

Funny thing......the only person who has said this is FH's ex. Said it seems 'odd'. He shot back we want this done right and it takes time to save money to do it right.
She also asked why we're getting married at a 'bar'. Sorry that's where you spend most of your time but it's actually a beautiful restaurant with a view. She's clueless.

yeah i know people say 'why so long' and i say 'because this way i have enough money to pay for it!'. Its better that we didn't book 2009 anyway b/c FH's bro got engaged after us and is getting married May 2009 so its better we are spaced out a bit.

I know, it really frustrates me sometimes. And my dad thinks it's funny to say, 'By then i'll be dead and so will half our relatives!' He's sooo ridiculous.

there have been a few people who've asked why i waited so long but for the most part my family knows it costs a lot of money. a few of my college friends want it sooner because that will be the next time that we will all actually be together.
