Who's inviting co-workers?

Who's inviting co-workers?

Hey ladies,

Who's inviting your co-workers... if you are, are you inviting them with guests or no... what if they are married, with someone or just single?

If you are closer with others in let's say your department, will you invite just those or will you invite others?

I'm stumped... any suggestions/thoughts?

Thanks!

I am inviting all of them and even 2 clients. But as far as the co-workers, even with their wives, the total is 12.

FH and I work for a small dept of about 8 people and we are seriously leaning toward inviting NONE of them...since it would be rude to pick and choose... BUT we may invite people from outside the dept which is probably just as bad... hmmmm... I don't think I am much help b/c we aren't quite sure what to do yet!

I have 4 very good friends that I have met through work, so them and their husbands are being invited. I also have three co-workers being invited with gusts and 5 of my bosses are being invited with their wives too.

I also need help with this question.... I am an administrator in a high school. I am definitely inviting the other three administrators and spouses, but if I invite the whole department I surpervise that would add approx 24 ppl. And I know that I can't just invite some of them. Please give advice.

I am inviting my dept (9 people) and their spouses. One of them is bringing her kids, but we are especially close, and there will be other children there.

I'm trying to keep the co-workers just to the one's that I've worked with for a long time in my direct office and their spouses, and a few in my department that I'm close with, and maybe a few that I'm inviting for the sake of 'office politics'. Just use your best judgement.

Re: Who's inviting co-workers?

Thanks ladies! There's about 12 people in my department, so with guests that would be 24 people. I'm not close with some of them at all, barely talk to them every day... I would say I talk to about half of them every day, and of course my boss. But then there's some other people not in my dept that I would invite as well.... I feel that by the time I invite everyone with guests, it will be close to 30 or 40 ppl....

I am not inviting anyone I work with. For 2 reasons:

1-By the time the wedding comes I will only be working here a little over a year
2-If I invited who I wanted to it would be over 20 people and we can't afford that.

I am thinking of inviting 2 or 3 people I used to work with. I was with them for 4 years and still keep in touch. I haven't decided yet on that though...

Re: Who's inviting co-workers?

FH and I work in the same department with 43 co-workers and probably 50+ others we've known the whole time.

This has been the single most frustrating part of the guest list - weeding out who is close and who is just a co-worker.

So here are our rules:

Definitely bosses and subordinates- that's 10 plus SOs.

Definitely people we hang out with outside of the office (not just at happy hour) - that's another 5 plus SOs.

Then there are the people who actually give a you-know-what about us (got us cards, ask about the plans and seem genuinely happy for us) versus the people who don't ask anything about the plans and seem annoyed when someone brings it up. Those ones are making it easy to cut down the list.

Unfortunately, EVERYONE thinks they are invited, so I know we are going to tick someone off.

Oh well.

we are inviting all fh's coworkers - there are 6 plus wives - no & guest for the single guys-
i am only inviting 3 people from my job that i feel close to - there are 300 people in my office i cant invite them all !
it is up to you - i figured i would only invite folks i would actually like to have there no point in all those extra folks

I am inviting some of my coworkers but they are on my B list if it looks like I'm not coming close to my min of 200. Most of them are from Manhattan & don't have cars so I'm not eve 100% sure they'd be able to come.

Re: Who's inviting co-workers?

we narrowed it like this:

1. who would you keep in touch with after you left (i've moved twice now, believe me it's less than you think)

2. do you already have their phone # or address? i always hated when people asked me for this information. jmo-but if i don't have it already then we're really not that close.

Re: Who's inviting co-workers?

I am inviting my dept - 5 guys. 3 are married, 1 has a SO and the other is welcome to bring a date. I am not that close with one of the married guys but I have to invite him if I invite the others since we are all in the same dept. I am also inviting one other guy & his wife that is not in my dept since we sit right next to each other and he knows more about my wedding plans than anyone else.

But things can change over the course of a year - we are in sales - some of the guys might not even be here!

I have 2 maybe's form another department, and 2 other's from that departmetn. Ther is a5th person, but she is new & part time, so I don't knwo her at all.
The 2 in my department defitnely,a lthough 1, if I left or if she wa sin a differnt departmetn, I migh tnow. the other oen is my boos & I have known her for 6 years.

And the big boss. No one from the yucky editorial department. I know all the spouses from the Christmas parties so they are invited, and the 3 single ladies are invited with guest like all my other singles.

I only work with 10 women. All but two are married. I am inviting one without a guest because she is not seeing anyone and the other women has a significant other that she lives with (women) but no one really knows. I am inviting her with a guest just in case she want to come out for the wedding I felt strange not inviting her with a guest!
