I put Mr. so and so and Mrs. bride's maiden name because you never know if she's done her paper work or if she decided not to change her last name.
I think this is the best option. Before I got married I always wrote it out to Mr. & Mrs. We got just about all of our checks written out to Mr. & Mrs. and I wasn't changing my name. So for checks we got after the wedding I had some difficulty at the bank (nothing major but I had to wait a while for them to figure out what to do-'cause apparently it was too complex for them )

I always give cash.
After reading these posts, if I was to give a check, I would probably make it out to cash.

Re: who's name is on the ck
I didn't change my name- and I didn't add Jake to my account
and I was able to deposit all the Mr and Mrs jake's last in the account- with him standing next to me- signing them also
so no big deal really
but just make it out to cash- it's so much eaier
personally I give cash

Re: who's name is on the ck
Thank God for this, because I was wondering this myself!! I always wrote out checks to Mr. & Mrs. _____ or gave cash. Plus FH and I don't have a joint checking account.
I better tell him to notify his bank a week before the wedding that we will have checks to deposit as Mr & Mrs. J.

Re: who's name is on the ck
I always write check out to Ms. Bride's Maiden Name OR Mr. Groom's Name. If you write it out to cash and it gets lost, anyone can cash it. Some bride's don't change their name, and not all couples have joint accounts set up before the wedding. If you write it out the way I outlined above, either the bride or the groom (but no one else) can cash or deposit the check with one signature.
When we got engaged we hadn't yet opened a joint checking but the checks we received were addressed to both of us. We were able to deposit the check into either one's personal account as long as both of us signed the back of it.

Re: who's name is on the ck
I remember giving a check recently as I addressed it as 'Mr. & Mrs.'
I remember the check coming back to me with three signatures on it, his name, her name with her maiden last name and her name with her married name. I didn't realize it would have been such a pain in the arse to cash it! I won't be doing that going forward.

Re: who's name is on the ck
We write it out to:
Mr. Groom's Full Name OR Mrs. Bride's Full Married Name.
The only exception is if I know the bride will not be taking her husband's last name - then I use her maiden name after the groom's name.

I write checks to cash also, just in case they are not changing names or do not plan on opening an account together

Re: who's name is on the ck
DH and I opened up a joint account shortly before getting married. Just about every single check we received was made out to Mr. & Mrs. Married Name. DH and I both signed the back of each check and had absolutely no problem depositing the checks the next day into our account. I would never write the check out to cash. If the check ever got lost or stolen, anyone could cash the check and you have no recourse.

Re: who's name is on the ck
i usually write it out to the groom cuz his name doesnt change!!! i dunno if thats proper but its the most logical in my mind
