Who's not changing their last name and why?

I still have to go get our license this week and I'm really thinking of not changing my last name. I was just wondering who else was keeping theirs.

I considered keeping my maiden name... but then I realized that my mom changed her name, his mom changed her name and I want to have the same last name as my kids.

i am keeping mine for now. i already booked my HM in my maiden name, and there is no 'swapping passengers'. even though it would still be me, they wont change my last name for my ticket reservation.

My mother kept her last name and hyphenated me, my sister and brother so when I got married, it didn't make sense for their to be 3 last names for the 2 of us! So I took DH's name. Nice and short

i kept mine so far... mainly because i don't like his last name with my first name AT ALL... waaay too many 'L's' and 'Ss' ... it just doesnt' sound right.... plus the fact that i started a new job this year, and i interviewed and did the paperwork before i was married... so everything they had was in my name, so i didn't feel like having to change everything there.... we still get mail addressed to ' mr and mrs hislastname', and i don't really mind it... but as far as everything legal, i use my last name.... dh doesn't mind too much, but he would like me to change it when we have kids so that we all have the same last name, which i understand... we'll see when the time comes

We have been going back and forth about this since we were dating.

I want to keep my name, and he isn't even comfortable with a hyphen.

I am not doing anything right now, and we will see how long I can go.

I am planning to keep mine. I know my fiance would prefer that I change it but I just don't feel it is necessary.

i am hyphenating---at work i use my maiden name, but i put in for a name change at work too (hyphenated).

i decided i've done a lot with my maiden name and i don't want to 'lose' it. actually, DH is okay with me not even hyphenating and just keeping my maiden name.

i wanted to incorporate his name too and both our names aren't too long.

our kids will have his name for simplicity.

Partly for Similar reasons to takeoutcook, although I do not yet have my doctorate, been making my name in my field for awhile, and partly since my last name is different and dead (3 sisters) and I wanted to carry it on a bit. I actually changed my name to MAIDEN LAST NAME MARRIEDLAST NAME, w/o a hyphen. I use both normally but can always pick one or the other. I am pretty happy wth my choice except otherpeoplecan choose one or the other, and I never know if I am under L or S for things...

I wanted to hyphenate it, but FH doesn't like that idea one bit. He is very old fashion when it comes to that. I don't know what I am going to do.

i kept my name - i am a lawyer and all my degrees areunder my name- plus i ahve been working in the field and clients know me by my last name

I kept my last name and will continue to. I've had it for 37 years and it suits me better Everyone is pretty surprised but it's very common in Europe. Also, for professional reasons - my name appears on a lot of company documents and I would hate to have them reprint them all
