Who's not changing their last name and why?

I still have to go get our license this week and I'm really thinking of not changing my last name. I was just wondering who else was keeping theirs.

I am NOT- until we have kids

it's way too much work- I have tons of Credit cards and 2 cars in my name

I also have PERFECT credit- and my FH does NOT- even though he makes way more money then me

we both thought it would be best for me to leave my last for now- while he fixes up his credit - then I will change it

I'm changing it...just haven't got up the 'courage' to do it yet. It's hard to do...I guess I'm having some issues doing it. I have no clue! BUT Yesterday I did change my 'signature' on my e-mail to read my new last name and DH got so excited. I think it means a lot to him. I'm doing it....just in baby steps!


Totally agree with those who are established in their professions and are known by their last names! It is so important to keep it!

I changed it right after the honeymoon. I had my tickets in my maiden name and brought my birth certificate and marriage license along with my passport. I changed everything and honestly, with all the credit cards and DMV it wasn't that bad!

DH is very traditional and didn't want me to keep my name. At first I was upset, but I got over it.

eta: his credit doesn't mean anything to yours. If you're worried about credit scores, it goes by ss#.

I am changing it. I don't like how my new name sounds, but that's ok, I'll get over it.

I'm keeping my name. We aren't having kids, so that isn't an issue.

I am an only child and want to honor my father's name in that way. DH told me he didn't care what I did as long as I didn't hyphenate (our 2 last names hyphenated would have sounded awful).

I get called Mrs. HisLastName (and have for years), so it doesn't really bother me. I'm just not legally changing my name.

I'm going to keep mine but it doesn't bother me if people use it socially.

I didnt take my husbands last name. I just felt like i was loosing my identity if i did. I hyphenated it on our marriage certificate. My daughter has his last name, and im totally fine with having a different last name than my family.
Plus, he has a somewhat common last name, and i kinda felt like i would be 'lost in the phonebook'.

I am most DEFINITLY taking my mans last name. I want to be known as his wife in EVERY WAY :) Everyone, as stated above, have their own reaons and that's great. Mine is because, of course this is my own point of veiw, that when you marry, you should take the mans name or vice versa. I just feel that a married couple should have the same last name. I personally can not wait until I can be called by his last name!!!! It will be the best thing to hear!!!

Besides, I have two brothers who can carry on the family name ;)
