We're having our ceremony and reception at the same location...so we decided to make a memory book...basically all of the guests would have their instant polaroid pic taken throughout the day randomly I want to be able to look at some of the photos of our day while on our honeymoon and read the sentiments....it'll be a while until we get the proof pics back from the photographer anyway.
We also will have a large 11x16 pic of us on a signing mat done by our photographer - but with the signing mat there isn't a lot of room on the edges for writing other than a name.
Am I being too sentimental and am I being too intrusive with the guests?

I was thinking of doing the same thing actually. Im debating b/c I dont know how crazy some people would be about this.

It is slightly annoying- besides, where do PUT all of that stuff after the fact ??? - it's going to be another dust collector - those sign board things always remind me of Sweet 16's -

Consider getting an 8x10 pic with an 16x20 mat - much more space.
Otherwise, the memory book could be fun.

i really like to idea of the memory book - I think it will be meangingful to you down the road. But I do think the signing board is a bit too much, JMO.

We are doing this (actually not sure the exact size of the mat but there is a lot of space for writing/signing) with an 8x10 from our engagement shoot ...
I have seen the memory book done, and love the idea. Have each guest write something next to their photo. I am not doing it because my wedding is too big and it will be way too difficult to put someone in charge of making sure all the poloroids are taken. As for the signing board, I have to agree with those who think it's a bit much. It reminds me of Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and Sweet Sixteens, and then you need to find a large space to hang it afterward.

Thanks everyone for their comments...as for the signing board, we're doing that already and 11x14 is not that big only if you don't have the wall space to hang it afterwards, and as for the memory book we would not want to stop every guest coming in but have random shots of the guests during the event....after you're married you have nothing to look at immediately afterwards, whether you choose a videographer and/or photographer you'll be waiting for pics...I wanted something to look at the next day when we go on our honeymoon...I'd like to look back and laugh and see what we missed and read the personal sentiments....the signature boards are good but with large weddings it's only enough room for a signature only the book allows someone to write more

I'm actually not doing a guestbook, I'm doing a Black and white picture from the engagement shoot enlarged -not sure how big, and matted - silver or black frame, signatures in Black fine point ink pen....I don't think it looks Bat Mitzvah - I've seen them and when you hang them up they look really memorable - I think more so than the guestbook.
