Why don't I know what the hell I am doing. I need lots of attention today.
Okay - somebody help me with PRINTED MATTER. (what is funny about this is that I am a printer....)
Things I need that are printed - and how are you guys doing this stuff? Where are you printing everything? Is your invite company doing it all?
Invites (okay I know how to do that) Placecards Seating Cards Ceremony Program (what are people doing for this? - and does somebody hand them out?) Menus? (do I ask my hall about this?)
I know I know - I need like the wedding 101 class. And here I am four months away. Any assistance would be WAY appreciated!

Re: WHY
Place cards and seating cards are the same thing. Some people choose to do something creative like using a placecard holder and inserting the card withthe couple's name and table number into it. Others like to do a combo favor/placecard like using a frame that is the favor and then putting the place card inside. Minature bouquets and mini trees are adorable too. Usually your hall will supply you with the regular small tent card place cards that are handwritten or you can buy paper and print them out yourselves in whatever shape you like. As for programs, do a search on the site as there have been some pretty ideas tossed around. A nice way i think to do it is to get really pretty heavy paper and print the couples name and date on teh outside and then take vellum paper and print the cermemony info on it and place inside of it. Then fold them over to form a card with the vellum inside and tie a big organza or satin bow down the middle to bind it together. Menus again are up to you and there have been some great ideas just recently on this board. Hope this helps a little. Good luck! (Oh and whatever you do use a good paper stock.... it makes a difference!)

Re: WHY
I am only doing invites, seating cards and programs per your list.
Invites - you know what you are doing. I am addressing them via the computer. I already created the envelope template and picked my font on my PC. All I have to do is finalize the guest list and start my printing process.
Programs - I am going to get some nice paper and print them myself using MS Word. I have two samples that I saved from weddings I attended. Basically going to outline the ceremony, name the bridal party and readers, maybe give directions to the reception hall. Still on the search for the paper I like. Either going to use pretty fall themed program paper or something ivory similar to my invites on the outside. Some matching white or ivory paper on the inside and tie them with a tassle or something similar.
Seating Cards - Since my wedding is the last week of October, I am going to get paper (perhaps that matches my programs) and attach them to a mini-pumpkin. I will either hand write them or print them on the computer.
I am starting my paper search now.

Re: Printer??
Flowerfields is the only hall I know that gives guests menus. Most brides must make their own, or not do them. There is a thread (on page 1) about a menu template that I am using. Ceremony programs- another option, but I like them. I am having my calligrapher create the cover for me, but SonicStef has a beautiful one! The programs can be as simple or difficult as you want. It depends on how much time you have.
Placecards- inkspun can do them for you for cheap, or you can write them out yourself, I am doing a candle placecard (see paging sonicstef for info), and there are tons of other ideas.

Re: Printer??
I thought of an idea for the ceremony program. I am going to buy paper at Kate's Paperie and print the info on there. I am getting married on site - so I am not going to walk everybody thru the whole ceremony. I am just going to write a thank you to the people that will share our aisle and list them in order of their 'walk'. I am then going to make the paper into0 cones so that the printed side is out and fill w. rose petals. I am going to hunt down a container or two to sit them in - like flower bouquet style, and have all those darn kids that I didn't know what to do with months ago hand them out. For tossing. I saw the cone thing made out of doilies in an old Martha - but the doily idea is a little Victorian for my taste. Whaddya think?
I got most of my papers from my invitation woman...
programs...I made myself and am having 2 close cousins (not in BP) hand them out with the bubbles (pr in your case...rose petals)
I can send you my program files if you need help on what to do... email
just one note on the petals in the cones...a funny story...
my cousin used rose petals in cones and her DH's family is from Sweden ...so I guess they didn't know what to do with them...so in a picture they got from the photographer is her DH being pegged in the head with a cone of petals...with a WTF look on his face...she blew it up and has it at work to look at when things get stressful (she is a resident)
just another story of something that could upset you on your wedding day, but you will look back and laugh at...
