I think we have a new thread every week... Is anyone actually trying to do something toward achieving their dream job? Is is the impossibility of it is too daunting?
I don't mean to sound critical, but how many dream job threads do we need?

I never said it was a bad topic. Its one thing to read a post like the one above by 'heidla' or 'hmichik' and another to read a one-liner: 'I want to be a teacher' or 'I want to be a lawyer'...
Seeing a thread full of one-liners almost turns a dream career into a 'What's for lunch today' kind of thread.
Does that make sense?

Yes, actually that makes complete sense. But what if my dream job was 'End war' or 'Stop hunger' or 'Cure cancer' - are they less important because they are only 2 words?

So then maybe you should start a thread about why people haven't achieved their dreams? Could be just as interesting. If you don't like the progression of a thread....add to it with discussion instead of trying to shoot it down in another post ya know?
sometimes by vocalizing (well typing) your dream...it brings you one step closer...it starts the cognitive process of what steps can be taken to obtain it.
it takes some people more time to work up courage to leave a job that they are comfortabel in and make a life altering change.
when threads become repitious (in my mind) I just skip over them...

No its not less important, but 2 word responses on a dream job topic are less interesting to read than those with complete sentenses.

Yes, I am!!!! I walked away from a very well-paying corporate job to go back to school and become a math teacher. Money is super-tight right now, but I have never been happier!!!!!

If you don't like what a post has to say, don't read it. As stated above, a lot of us who are on here are bored at work (or procrastinating) and this website provides much-needed distraction. Who cares if there are posts like 'What's for lunch'? Sometimes people have some really funny things to say, and it makes me smile. There are just as many informative posts on here as not-so-informative/just-for-fun/silly posts. No one is forcing you to read any of them.

Then make a post asking this question to engage the conversation, rather than make it seem irrelevent.

Re: Why are there so many threads on dream jobs?
As the saying goes, 'if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all!' SURE there are repetitive threads, but you can choose NOT to read 'em!! I know sometimes I don't bother reading certain things, but I don't comment about them, either. How many times do you ask your best girlfriends or FH/DH the same questions over and over and over ? I do!!
Every day on the BHB board there is the same questions ...
'what is your first dance with FH?' 'Hooray, I booked a florist today?' 'Here are pics of my dress..' etc..
Do I say 'congrats' and woo hoo' every time? No. But for that bride-2-be posting that thread, this is huge! She is excited and wants an opinion, wants us to share her joy, and wants to receive support. That is exactly what LIW is about!
My FH is on car website forums (Jeep, Dodge) and if you saw how REPETITVE they get, you'd laugh! We are not THAT original when it comes to posting the same things over and over.. (LOL!)
When you are interested in something (in our case, our weddings, being in relationships, being parents, planning honeymoons, and just being girlfriends) then no question should be considered 'TOO REPETITIVE'

I wasn't being mean either nor did I attack anyone... I think I have the right to be honest and not always nicey nicey girl.

Sorry, I didn't mean my post to come out sounding as nasty as it did ... I apologize! You are entitled to your opinions, and I do appreciate honesty from everyone on here!
I never thought you were attacking anyone, per se, I was just trying to get my point across about the topic and it came out sounding angry ... mea culpa..
OK now I'M sounding REPETITIVE!!

Misty you are always very nice
Unfortunately not everyone is.
I was wondering why I have been seeing that thread so much, too, Alina. Not that the repetition bothers me, because I think that I have probably responded on all of them
At least if there are going to be repetitive threads they are NEW repetitive threads. Maybe we will see 'What college did you go to' less frequently
