Why are there so many threads on dream jobs?

Why are there so many threads on dream jobs?

I think we have a new thread every week... Is anyone actually trying to do something toward achieving their dream job? Is is the impossibility of it is too daunting?

I don't mean to sound critical, but how many dream job threads do we need?

True.

My dream job be damned.. I cant make it happen.

Im really good at what I do now and it's making me good money as well as the fact it has a very good future for me.

I can tell you every day for 10 years what my DREAM jobs are.. but it's not going to happen.

It is funny however to see what you WANTED to do and what you END up doing..

Example me:

Went to college to be a Marine Biologist in 1993......... Fast Forward to 2003.... Got a job at the Largest Insurance Broker in America.. what in the HELL do those two things have to do with eachother? What happened to Marine Biology? Bad School mentors.

*shrug*

Sorry...I don't usually get involved in this stuff...but, feel the need because I was the one who started the last so called dream job thread. And, yes, I am working towards ONE of the goals I listed...

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...I've seen tons of threads on EVERY single board that have been asked REPEATEDLY...why waste time and energy to call them out.

Not everyone looks back pages and pages to find the previous days threads. That's all I chalk it up to. And, it's also an interesting topic, that keeps a thread going for a while...so why not?

And if I could see to it that my company be sold to a competent person that could guarantee my job security, I would.

Probably b/c I tend to pay attn to career threads more often than others and don't understand why is there a need to have one every week. I don't think that most of the people change their minds on the dream job on the daily or weekly basis...

My guess would be that many of us post from work, at jobs we are less than thrilled with. Sometimes it helps to daydream about what we could be doing rather than focusing on what we have to do

I wrote that I wanted to be a teacher, and do plan on going back to school for my masters in September. I will say that I dont think its ever too late to pursue a dream-my pre-cana leader was an intensive care nurse for 24 years before going back to school and becoming a lawyer.

Sometimes people will inspire us with their dreams to pursue our own. Or writing them down will actually inspire us to pursue them. I think thats not a bad thing, no matter how many threads there are. JMO

Thanks girls...

I just don't understand why anyone really cares what we've posted or HOW MANY times we've asked the SAME question...

If we're bored and/or find the question interesting enough to answer, then we will.

If you don't like the question and/or just don't want to answer it because you've seen TOO MANY of the same thread, then just don't answer.

MISTY...we need a dead horse NOW!!!

I guess I am not that bored. But what we really need is to stop taking some of the posts personally. Franksbride, I didn't direct this thread to you specifically, you just happened to be the most recent poster starter of such a thread.

I am on here because I am bored during the day, I come on at night to have a good time, if you are bothered by how many of the same thread there are how did you last so long?

My Dream Job is famous recording artist.

That will never happen. But man would it be cool.

Just wanted to share, not because I'm bored, but because I'm PROCRASTINATING!

Yes!! To answer this question. I work until 4am. I go to sit outside the Actors Equity building for 2-3 hrs in 20 degree weather at 6am. Then we get to go inside and wait fpor another hour. Finally, we get to sign up for our 2min. audition slot. I go home. I sleep for about 2hrs. and then get ready for my audition. I go back to equity building sing my 32 bars. I then come home go back to sleep for a couple of hours and then I get up and get ready to go to work.

I guess the thing about 'Dream Jobs' is that they are not always easy to land. Many people get dismayed and give up. But, for those that want to keep going out trying to achieve their goal I say KUDOS!!! And that being constantly reminded that you are not alone is important. I feel that we should all speak about our dreams!!! As often as we want!!! For what are we without dreams?
