Okay, I decided to have a destination wedding to save money. I'm trying to figure out my budget and it comes out to almost what we expected to pay to have a budget wedding here ARRRGGGG!!! Why do I have champagne tastes on beer pockets....
When you're talking of a budget around $10,000, the almost $3,000 difference between the two seems to me to be pretty large. I think you actually are saving quite a bit by having a destination wedding.

Have you tried pricing out other resorts to see if you can bring the cost down? Maybe you can find another deal. And have you tried pricing out different places ehre with 50 people? its a lot of work, but you may be able to get your costs down even more.

are you paying for relatives to get to the destination? or are they all expected to get there on their own.. cause that might add to the destination wedding as well...
it might be possible to have an inexpensive wedding here.. i'm doing 200 people and w'ere not going over 18k. .. it would seem u should be able to do 50 people for under 10..

Except that certain things cost the same whether there are 30 or 300 guests (DJ, photography, etc.)

good point!!
resorts have packages that include these in their prices so you are saving with that as well.
When you did a sample budget for having a wedding here- did you include all these vendors? Because if you think about it you are probably saving even more money then. :)

Based on your budget list, you still need to spend $4,000 for the following Officiant - $350 DJ - $800 Flower - $600 Limo - $500 Favors/BP gifts - $300 Invitations/Stationary - $550 Misc/Tips - $900
However, you only have $2,576 left to spend and it looks like you went over budget on honey moon
