Why couldn't I have been a bridesmaid...

Why couldn't I have been a bridesmaid...

...when dresses were pretty like they are now? I was a bridesmaid in 86, 87 and 1990. Think pink and poufy sleeves with a bow on the butt or purple and hideous with lace on top of satin and rhinestones. I wish I had a picture. Ladies, consider yourselves blessed that most of you were too young to have to wear these monstrosities. And guess what, they were chosen by FAMILY! Actually, my sister picked a decent cocktail dress. The other two were nightmares.

I was never a BM, but I know what you mean with the puffy dresses - even the wedding dresses were the same style!

Yeah and now you can't find a BM dress with a sleeve anywhere!

I was my sister's MOH in 1988 and I picked out the freakin' ugly dress! Now who do I blame?

It was a semi strapless dress. It had poufy arm bands that were like sleeves but were not attached to the dress. The dress could be worn with our without these 'sleeves.' I took them off because they had a METALLIC lace covering and it was itchy!

Leslie, right there w/ you...I was a bm for friends/family in 1990 (2ce), 1992, 1994 & then the last 3 were later & weren't so bad. I wish I had pics!!!!

We're talking satin, poufy, big sleeves

I've been a BM 3 times and thankfully none were too bad....
The worst one was tea length tomato red with (yuck) applique on the chest and a bolero jacket

Another was cornflower blue with an empire waist which did double duty, because I wore it to Leslie's wedding

Another was 2 piece claret satin strapless with a mermaid skirt. I actually liked it until I tried to walk in it. Let's just say I busted my behind in the bridal suite

I remember the puffy ugly dresses all to well, my mother actually dreamt I would wear one of those at my wedding!!! But once I tried one on in front of her just to humor her, she realized how terrible it looks!!!

I like the styles I've worn with the exception of one (bad color, big bow on the butt, poofy sleeves, just awful overall) and as for the other times, they're all the same color! Lilac! I have several lilac dresses hanging in my closet with nothing to wear them to.

Oh man! My bro got married in 84 and I wore a fuschia pink thing with poofy sleeves and a hat with lace on it!!!

It was truly a glinda the good witch dress!
