the Mayan Riviera is affordable to fly to (right into Cancun) and the all-inclusives are not generic (for the most part) We will be on CAribbean water for non-Carribean prices - plus, we get all the culture and ruins! (and who doesn't love Mexican food?!)

We are going to Tahiti...we picked it because we know we will never have the chance again to go somewhere so exotic and beautiful...we won't be able to afford it once we have kids, etc and we felt like our HM was the perfect time to be extravagant...we also felt that since the Carribbean is so close it would be much easier to go there for a weeks vacation anytime...

for a once in a lifetime trip ... something that we would look back on years from now and have no regrets. Who knows where we'll be in a few years (house, kids, school, savings, retirement, etc, etc...) so we chose somewhere that was really once in a lifetime.

Did I write this? LOL. I agree with the above, plus Mexico is somewhere we hadn't been before. We wanted to do Italy or Hawaii but weren't keen on flying, so the 3 hour flight won us over! My dear fi thinks he's P. Diddy and he wanted 5* and pampering, plus adults only, AI and that's what we got!

As some of the above posters mentioned, we felt that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Who knows where we'll be in a few years, so we figured now was the time to splurge.

We didn't want what we considered to be the 'standard' Hawaii honeymoon. We both want to get there someday but we wanted a little more for the honeymoon. Because we have to postpone the honeymoon until June anyway, we started looking at Greece since the weather is perfect there at that time of year. But, it was too expensive for the amount of time we wanted. During our research, we stumbled across the Mediterranean cruise and both of us fell in love with the itinery. It gives us a few sightseeing places as well as some mandatory relaxation time. Just perfect for us.

we decided to go to vegas only because hub had extra days off right after the wedding. it was meant to be just a mini get away. our intensions were to go to paris during the winter of 2005. it's teh winter now.. and we're gonna nix paris =( maybe we'll go during our anniversary. so... vegas was our honeymoon (altho still in denial) hahaha bleh =P

Anegada BVI - not only because of it beauty and tranquility, but it is where my great grandparents lived and raised their 14 children, and their house is still there. I have never been before and this is the perfect opportunity to connect a new part of my life with my history. Can't wait!!!

Don't second guess your decision. A trip somewhere can always be new and exciting. Its what you put into your journey that will make it worthwhile. Especially your first trip as husband and wife.

We chose Mexico,Royal Hideaway Resort because neither of us have been there, we wanted to be on our own time schedule (which is why we cancelled the cruise idea)

I heard and read nothing but amazing things about the place and our travel agent highly recommended it as well. I read a really great review about it on here and the web site pics looked amazing too!

I think when you come across the right spot you'll just know because you 'll get so excited just thinking about it and wont be able to wait to go- I know we cant!!

I second what Jamie (JamieandMarkSept'05) said. We had the frequent flier miles and thought if not now, when? Certainly we wouldn't want to leave small kids here in the states (assumin we have them relatively soon after we are married) and fly across the world and we thought we could go to the Caribbean anytime. Your honeymoon should be exotic and one to always remember!

we are still choosing between Venice and Prague - finances will make the final decision. We chose these 2 destinations because we love Europe and we'll probably be trying for a baby pretty quickly so won't have an opportunity to get back to Europe for a long time.

We wanted a once-in-a-lifetime trip that most people don't go on to a place that isn't commercialized. We ruled out Hawaii because it's such a common tourist spot. We decided on Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora and still think about it everyday almost 2 years later.
