Why did you pick your Honeymoon destination?

WEATHER!! that is why we picked aruba, you never have to worry about rain and there is tons to do. the decision of where our honeymoon was going to be was the easiest decision of the whole wedding planning.

As some of the above posters mentioned, we felt that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Who knows where we'll be in a few years, so we figured now was the time to splurge.

Jenn, why are you second guessing? Do you have another place in mind?

Long story short, our perfect hotel in St. Lucia was recently sold to another large hotel chain. As of may, they will change hands, and renovations & major changes may soon follow.

I don't want to risk it, so we've decided to
re-group and look at other options.

I am letting FH pick. I make all of our travel decisions already. I no longer play Julie McCoy, the ships Cruise Director. He knows I want Caribbean or Hawaii and I drop hints like atom bombs. I give him very little room to mess up!

B/c we knew we were not going to get to Hawaii once we bought a house and especially not after we had kids. Plus FH REALLY wants to go there. That was his only request.

the Mayan Riviera is affordable to fly to (right into Cancun) and the all-inclusives are not generic (for the most part) We will be on CAribbean water for non-Carribean prices - plus, we get all the culture and ruins! (and who doesn't love Mexican food?!)

DH and I aren't into 'tropical islands.' We went to Vegas back in 2002 and LOVED it. We did it all over again for our honeymoon in 2004 but we went ALL out!

We went to Disney World (because we go all the time & got engaged there, it just seemed like we should go there and SPLURGE for our HM). Then we went to Disneyland because we've never been then drove to Vegas because DH had never been adn we wanted to gamble.

We talked seriously about Hawaii and as much as we wanted to go, we kept feeling like it wouldn't be our HM without spending time at WDW since it's special to us ...

Well as unromantic as this is going to sound, our honeymoon was originally planned as 'just another vacation' ...

We had our 10-day Caribbean cruise booked before we even got engaged. But when DH popped the question , we decided on a short (7 month) engagement and knew we'd be married in 2004.

So we picked our wedding date to be the Sunday before our cruise left the following Friday . We knew we didn't want to postpone the honeymoon any further into the year, and since we were already taking 2 weeks off of work we wouldn't have a lot of extra vacation left to take an additional HM ...

It wound up being a wonderful HM so even though it was totally backwards, it was perfect for us

We chose a week in Disney and a week in St. Thomas. I dont like being on a plane for too long. So I figured a couple of hours wont kill me. We really love Disney and it is sooo much fun. And the second week we wanted to relax in the Caribbean. We chose St. Thomas b/c I have always wanted to go there. I love the Caribbean culture!! I sooo want to move there.
