Craig of craigslist.org announces candidacy for mayor of San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO - Cole Valley resident Craig of craigslist.org, software engineer, has announced his candidacy for the office of mayor of San Francisco. 'There’s a lot of kids around now who are just as good as I am at computers, and have more energy,' Craig explains, 'and if I’m going to become useless, I might as enter politics. I have the fedoras.'
The campaign will be modeled after the successful Internet-based gubernatorial campaign of Jesse ('The Body') Ventura. Like Governor Ventura, Craig ('The Body') of craigslist has little clue regarding actual governance, but doesn’t feel that will be a disadvantage. 'I figure that I can’t **** any more than any incumbent politician anywhere' he explains. 'My slogan for this campaign will therefore be ****s less'.
In the tradition of San Francisco politics, Craig’s platform involves a number of ridiculous proposals:
Sell Muni to the Muni workers, to address the motivation problem which may be the root of all its problems
Provide extensive Internet access by providing public access stations in all schools and libraries
Neighborhood policing and parking regulation. Police and meter maids will be assigned to particular neighborhoods, and introduce themselves to the locals, personally, with posters and on the Web
Customer service provided by all City departments via phone and the Web
Establishment of a functional parking ticket appeals process, with evening and weekend hours
Correction of all mislabeled no-parking zones, typically ones which are bigger than they need to be
Conversion of bus zones, particularly during night-time hours
Continuous shuttles from BART/Muni stations to new areas where lots of people work, like South Park
Creation of parking structures where needed, for example, near the new Giants Stadium/South Park
Craig gets to park wherever he wants, and the parking place in front of his place is his, you know, the one a little bit to the right by the corner
When elected, Craig will be formally addressed as the Emperor Norton III.
If not elected, Craig will enter a new career as trophy husband.
