Why do people apologize after writing long messages?

I for one really appreciate the long messages, since they hold valuable information. I'm just curious why people feel inclined to apologize! Any explanations?

While there might be some people out there who find long messages annoying, I find them helpful. Better for the information to be posted, no matter how long, than people to feel intimidated the way they`re writing. Any of us can chose what we read ... as long as it`s posted. But sometimes the messages people are apologizing for aren`t even long (in my opinion).

I think people feel they`re boring the reader, and the posts should be quick to read. As long as they`re not writing a novel, the more info the better!
