Why do people assume they are invited to the wedding. Tammyjill u will enjoy this one Its you know WHO!

This girl I havent talk to honestly in like 2 years just sent me an instant message on AOL To ask me when in June the wedding was so she can make plans to be here. My away message was on.

But ...
YA BY THE WAY YOU WERENT INVITED!!!!!!

Why would you be I havent talk to in so long.

I hate dealing with that! I had to e-mail a girl who assumed she was invited to tactfully let her know that she wasn't. People make so many presumptions!

I just invited a lot of people I havent seen in years and years because we were close at one time, and life just takes you different places sometimes. I wanted them to be there. But I agree with you, people just cant assume they will be invited.

If I invited everyone who wanted to be invited to my wedding, we'd have a guest list in the high 200s!!!!!

One girl was like, 'but we've been friends since 3rd grade!' correction, dear, we've known each other since 3rd grade. We barely speak anymore except for when Tori Amos has a new album out.

I actually had as aquaintence(sp?) that we don't even like ASK FH & I if he can be an usher in the wedding!!!! WE don't like him & only see him about 2 times a year if he happens to be with our mutual friend. Sorry buddy--you aren't even invited!! I told him WE ask our friends to be in the wedding party-they don't ask us! What the F*** IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE???!!!!!

I actually had people that thought they could pass their invitation along. They couldnt make it to my wedding so they invited other people with their invite! I called them and was like 'NO WAY' the invitation was for you, if you cant come then that is it. You may not use it to send someone else.

LOL! I was just in my corporate headquarters of my job last week and this crazy girl who I am acquainted with (barely!) comes running up to me gives me this huge hug and goes..

'Can I come to your wedding?'

First thing she asks! I swear...what do you say to that?

I have people who I haven't seen in quite some time who I think will expect to be invited. Unfortunately for them, they will NOT be recieving an invite. You just can't invite everyone. I actually had a good friend of mine tell me she was insulted that she wasn't in my bridal party!

Ugh, we're in a bind right now about if we're having a small wedding or a big wedding. We went to a wedding last night, and my FI saw all the people he grew up with, but he really doesn't hang out around them that much, and they kept being like, oh well when is your wedding going to be, and I felt like it was going to be assumed that all of these people are invited. Ugh, it's such a complicated issue.

Any suggestions for tactful ways of letting people down?

I haven't encountered any problems like this, but would like to be prepared.

I have the same problem! So many people think they are getting invited to my wedding but will be sadly mistaken! It's amazing how presumptuous people are!

would love some advise here - i have 2 friends from overseas who are going to be sharing a room ( i am having all the bridesmaids stay together and i am paying for it ) so anyways i ask her 3 months ago if she is comming alone and she says yes ( at first she was bringing her daughter)- now all of a sudden she wants to bring her b/f who i dont like ( he drinks alot and can get kind of violent when he is drunk) now how in the world do i tell her he cant come to the wedding - i dont want to be dealing with a drunk violent 6' tall man at my wedding.
have been thinking about this for days and just dont know what to say - and aside from that now she is messing up the whole room situation cause i have nowhere to put him - which means they will need to be at a different hotel which is going to mess up the limo and the hair and - grr i dont understand why people do this ....
how do you just decide to invite people - ( she knows i dont like him )
help what do you say?

Oakslady just explain that you are sorry but the invite was for her and you have no room on your guest list for one more person!

I have a similar yet different problem...don't you hate when you invite 1 person and they mark down that 2 are coming! then when you explain the invite was only for the one person they throw you an attitude!!! I am sorry you can't invite the random stranger you hooked up with this weekend but the invite had your name...NOT AND GUEST!!!!!!!!!!!!

My FH is too nice (sometimes to the point of being taken advantage of but thats another story)
Anyhoo, every person he sees who asks if they can come he just says yes to. I just smile. When the invites are sent out thats it, you don't get one you are not coming. He can invite the world but when the time comes I'll take care of it. The claws will come out if they have too....
