Why do people 'Trash' their wedding dress? didnt it cost $$$?
I see a lot of these 'trash the dress' pictures...I may be silly in asking this but why on earth would any bride want to trash a gown that they paid a lot of $$ for? Whats the point? someone enlighten me?

I think that pictures look AWESOME but I would never do it, I would like to keep my dress nice so that one day I could make a christening outfit for my babies

You can do what they call the 'day after' shoot instead of a trash the dress shoot. I don't even think you really have to trash your dress if you prefer not to.

1) That's photo shop or she'd have 3rd degree burns.
2) Some people buy a dress at a thrift shop for this.
3) I have seen them calling the shoots where you are around city 'Rock the dress' now (well at least in Miami).
I'll be rocking the second one and selling first!

Most of the time the dress isn't ruined. GOing in the water or beach pictures will not ruin most dresses. A few girls have done them and then the dress was cleaned and looked like new.
Yes, paint and fire will ruin it but dirty can be cleaned....and believe me your dress will be a mess just from your wedding day. The bottom of my dress is BLACK and I have random spots on it from who knows what....cause I didn't get to eat and I was drinking white wine.

ye, that is not real. just added in post production.
the shoot just called that, cause u allow urself to do things u would not on the wedding day, like sitting on the ground in the dress and stepping into water. the brides not really trash it, this is just a cool name for the 2nd day shooting.
my cousin did this, and her dress is in a perfect condition.

Im totally doing a 'trash the dress' session but i do not expect to ACTUALLY trash my dress!!! Its just a more casual shoot where you can take pictures without worrying that you are going to ruin your dress for your reception.

Thats what I am doing too! I will not rip it or paint it (or burn it??!!!) but I will be lying in the grass - sitting in dirt, aka not caring if it gets dirty.
My mom almost died when I told her i wanted to do this- but she is ok with it now. I am never going to wear it again. But I will have it cleaned and preserved after.

Re: Why do people 'Trash' their wedding dress? didnt it cost $$$?
so then one really needs TWO wedding dresses to do this..one for the wedding and another cheaper dress that is going to be trashed after the wedding day??
This would be do-able for me if someone gave me a Used gown and had already planned to get rid of it,,,but not the actual gown I wore for the ceremony/reception...my mom would KILL me if she knew I had any plans of 'trashing' any fancy dress she paid good $$ for!
