Maybe they won't come to the ceremony either (the babies) ... if they are fussy kids, you wouldn't want them there either...
Good luck and I like the way you wrote that..

Just say, oh that's so nice of them. We are planning on having adults on at the wedding. I'd love to see them at the ceremony though!
Love this response!! I don't know if you want them in the ceremony though in case they are sleepy or cranky or just having a bad day and cry the whole way through?? That makes me nervous!
i dont think 10 month old twins belong at any of it
but i also know this is going to start a war
i do nottt want them screaming through a reception i spent two years planning its not acceptable not allowed and i spent too much money
why would anyone assume their infant children should come? uhhh fml!
i agree with everyone else in that you need to stand firm..if they can't understand and respect your wishes then that's not cool...if shes starts a problem don't let it bother you...jut stand firm and either she'll understand or she won't...either way you're getting married and it will be the best day of your life

this! i hate it when ppl assume that they can bring whoever they want - and kids to top it off...and so young too!!

Hopefully she won't start drama, but if she does and decides not to come, her loss not yours.

Re: why do ppl assume?
i'm having the same issue and i'm a pushover, so i'll probably just let them come. my cousin is due in march and my wedding is november. she and her husband are in my BP as is their 3 year old (who is my FG). now how do i tell her 'oh, btw, the fourth member of your family isn't invited, but everyone else is'
if you're really close with her, i would just have a frank conversation with her about it. hopefully she'll understand. but sometimes you have to bend the rules. my cousin's best friend had to decline being in the BP at his wedding because they had a baby 6 months earlier and were travelling to NY from Michigan and didn't have anyone to watch the baby and my cousin and his wife were so adamant about no kids that his best friend wasn't part of his BP, and wasn't even able to come to the wedding. i know it's something that now, 5 years later, he regrets doing so just try to keep it all in perspective.
and just so you know, people bring whoever they want anyway. at the wedding of that same cousin who made a big stink about no children and even excluded his best friend's baby had to suck up 2 kids that our second cousin decided to bring anyway even though they only RSVPed for 2.
just try to be diplomatic but know when the rules are meant to be broken IMO but you know how your family works so do what works best for you in your experience.

Re: why do ppl assume?
ITA!!!! I had a discussion with my sister over this. My SILis pregnant and she is due in Jan. This is her 3rd kid. My niece and nephew who are 3 and 4 are going to be my flower girl and ring bearer but they are the only kids allowed at the wedding. In fact I even made a suggestion that my SIL bring her mother to the ceremony so that afterwards she can take my niece and nephew home. I know my SIL thinks she can bring my future niece to the wedding as well and I have made it very very clear that I do not want children at the wedding and everyone (my mom and my sister) are getting mad at me saying 'how can you ask people to come and not bring their kids?' Hello! This is a wedding not a baby shower! What are kids going to be doing up at 10:00pm at night while their parents are drinking? I just dont understand some people. As if they havent been to weddings before! After a while, kids get bored and start running around knocking things down. I do not want that happening!

hows this:
hey sweetie, hope things are well and the girls are good, cant wait to see them im sure they got so big! anyway, just wanted to touch base with you about the wedding, as much as Mike and I would love for the girls to be their with us, the wedding reception itself is adults only, if you want to bring them to the church thats absolutely fine and we'd love to see them there. but there is no children at the reception-beside it will totally give you and stefano a night out that you 100% deserve!
i hope you understand! see you at the shower give the girls a kiss for me<3
Great!
I dunno about u but I dont even want kids to the Ceremony.. I dont want a baby to be crying when We are saying are vows!!!!! NO WAY!!!! So for me, NOT KIDS AT ALL....

Re: why do ppl assume?
our flower girls and ring bearer are the ONLY kids that will be there! i even worry about them to be honest when 10 pm rolls around. ill be ready to drop and so will they! we are not making any exceptions. it isnt that type of affair. if she wants to be dramatic about it she can be, that is her choice. everyone feels differently.
our rule of thumb was immediate family, yes (brothers/sisters can bring their kids) otherwise its a no.
