Why do you want to get married?

Someone asked me this today and I thought it was an interesting question so heres my answer

We''ve been dating for years and living together for 3 years and we both know that we never want to break up with each other so we figured why not get married. I mean we already live together as if we were married - so not much will change. Its not as if there were this head over heels epiphany where we screamed out off the rooftops 'I love so and so and want to spend the rest of my life with her!' Its not a big romantic thing for us - its just about making it official - whats everyone else thoguhts??

I kinda feel the same. We have been living together for more than 3 years and it's the next logical step in the relationship.

I dont want kids...so that wasnt part of the reason either.

To be completely honest, I really want the party. I know getting married wont change anything...it's more that I want a big party to celebrate our love.

FH & I have been together for 4 years now, and living together for almost a year.

He proposed to me because he wants to spend the rest of his life with me & I accepted because i feel the same.

To me, its a sign of committment that can't be broken.

I love him with my whole heart & I want to make it 'offical'

I also want to be an offical part of his family & share his last name with him

i will feel complete <3

We love each other and want to be together for the rest of our lives. Its definitely a romantic thing for us. There's a lot of legal stuff with it too...I want to adopt FSD and that'll be much easier if we are married. Plus all the other legal stuff that comes along with it.

But there's definitely the whole committing ourselves to each other in front of God and our families and all that romantic shizz

Relatively to others on here me and FH been very short time together - 8 months. And from the moment we started dating, in the 1st few weeks we knew that we are going to be forever. People would even ask us/FH outright 'so when are you gonna make it official'.
We moved in after 2 months of dating, and get along great on the most part (can't avoid the usual fights), we always have tons of stuff to talk about and we enjoy mostly hanging out with each other. We feel as if we are each others BFF's
I guess for us it was this big romantic, falling completely in love with each other thing. Never loved anyone as much as I love him and can't wait to be his Mrs.

well we have been together for 7 years almost we were young when we met now we have to kids together and love each other dearly

why do i want to get married? simple... I want to get married to him because he is the person that I choose not to live without. I could live without him but I choose not to because I love him.

He's 'the one' I want to be with forever...I'm ready to get married and have a family.

We've also been together for a very long time (9 years) and living together for 2 1/2. Neither one of us is going anywhere. But, I want it to be official. I want to take his name and become a true part of his family.

I also want to have a family of our own and I refuse to do that until I'm married. No offense to anyone here that already has kids, it's just my personal preference.

And yes, I want the party too. I've always dreamed of the big wedding, and I'm not letting that dream go

i cant see my life any other way. we've been living together so after being married yea its kinda just like a piece of paper but its also another way of giving him the highest form of commitment. its like saying we will be together forever and i dont want it any other way. i cant not have him there, i would be miserable. getting married is the next step in our relationship and i seriously cannot wait until that day

I'm getting married because its romantic to commite to each other that you'll be together forever. I know he is my soul mate I knew from day one. I also want to have a family and I believe you need to be married. I'm a traditionalist sorry.

although we have been together for 9 years & are already committed to each other we are getting married because we want to have the firm commitment to each other.

he is my best friend & i honestly don't remember my life before him.

we are also getting married because we want to have kids together.

I never wanted to get married. Neither one of us want kids. We own our own house, which we bought 10 years ago,and we have a small cabin in the woods outside of Woodstock. We were playing the part of a married couple....very well I might add, when he came out of left field and proposed. I didn't even hesitate for a second before I said YES! It's just like him........I never know what's around the corner!

Same here!!! Except we were friends for 7 years, and living together for 1.5.

His mom assumed we were getting married for kids and we always reply, 'nope for the tax breaks'

I think it is kind of simple.

I can't imagine a day without him. An hour without thinking of him, and moment I don't want to be with him.

It's corny but true.... I want to be his wife and him to be my husband... he is just my all....

I am more traditional than most, so a wedding is something I always wanted to have to fully commit to someone for life and to say our vows in front of our family, friends, and God. I want the companionship that FH brings, knowing he will always be there for me and that he would do anything for me, and to have that someone to rely on. We have a mutual respect for each other. Finally, I also want to have a family eventually so that is another reason! Lol I am such a mush!

Well put He is one of the most kind, caring, friendly and funny people I have ever met, and we knew from the first few days when we started dating that we would get married eventually. I cannot wait to be his wife

I want to get married because he is my person. I could not picture my life any other way. It has always been like this so dont think just because we're engaged and having a big wedding that is the reason I am all starry eyed. I dont need the big ring, the big party and all that jazz- I just need him.
