ive been calling my church for months no joke and never EVER get calls back....now i finally get someone to pick up and I ask what I need and all i get is attitude and 1 word answers!!!! I just dont get the Catholic Relgion sometimes?!?!?!

I did too. Not the attitude part, but the not calling me back part. It's very frustrating because they want you to book them first but they make it almost impossible when they don't return your phone calls. Give 'em attitude back!!

I found the opposite to be the case. I called St. Agnes b/c it is the diocese headquarters to speak to someone about getting married at a different church then the one I am a parishoner of (dad passed and I don't want to be married there) and the bischop returned my call within 24 hours! They gave me a date and time there and said I could go anywhere in the diocese I wanted . We chose St. Raymonds in East Rockaway and the priest checked his voicemail while on vacation in the bahama's and called us back from there so we didn't fee ignored. We scheduled an apt via bahama phone for when he returned!
It totally depends on the church and the priest. I am sorry they are being so difficult for you!

I feel your pain. I have my regular church booked but and working on getting married at another church. As soon as I book the new church I am cancelling the old one. I call and call and call an no one ever gets back to me. I was actually told that I could speak to the priest because he'd be doing immigration and that's what he does with most of his free time. WHAT???? I am looking to get sacrament and I am given the run around. No way not for me!!! Good luck.

first of all... i am very sorry that you're going through this.
you want to get MARRIED, something the church wants. you want to get married IN THE CHURCH, something else they want. and they're giving you a headache. i just don't get it.
now for my editorial... this is one of the many reasons i left the catholic church.

I'm so sorry. I'm getting married at Our Lady of the Snow and everyone there has been wonderful. Don't let a few select people get you down.

im sorry you had this experience, but i get so upset when people complain about the 'catholic religion'..as if the 'catholic religion' didnt answer your phone call...no, it was some presumably catholic receptionist who just was a moron.. dont blame the church..

think about it... most churches have only 1-2 priests that must serve often times upwards of 3,000 families in their parish. they're very busy people. most receptionist are not allowed to book a date with you over the phone, you have to meet with the priest. my suggestion is physically GO TO THE RECTORY and meet with someone there or like my fiance and I did, talked with the priest after Mass and set up an appointment with him. don't get discouraged!!
