Why don't you....

GAH I am so sick of the 'Why don't you''s from the peanut gallery!

I showed my grandmother my sample invitation colors (blank- im DIYing) and got.....

'why don't you get silver invitations and just do pink and purple accents?'

And then I told her about my cake topper ('B' with pink + purple swarovskis) and got....

'Why don't you get your first initials? It's your cake too'

Of course it's my cake. You think my FH gives one c r a p about whats on top of the cake???? lol

Why do I even show people?

Feel free to leave your rants below!

'Shouldn't you meet with your officiant before you book her? What if you don't decide to go with her?'

I actually cried from all the 'why don't you..' or the 'I wouldn't do that, I'd do...' or the 'you shouldn't register for those dishes, you should register for these.' I got so upset I asked FH if we could just elope. It would be SO much easier! and cheaper! I know people want to help but sometimes its more helpful to not put in your two cents!

'Don't waste you money on invitations, people throw them out anyway'

Thanks so I'll write everything out for everyone on a napkin!

Ugh I hate the discouragement from family! I feel your pain!

I want to bake FH's favorite cookie that I make him-- choc chip cookies with a peanut butter cup squished in the middle---for favors. I told my mom about my idea and she groaned and said, 'That's going to be too much work!'.... She says this about all my DIY ideas... I decided to just stop telling her about them now.

FMIL asked if FH and I considered cutting out liquor and having beer and wine only at our wedding to cut costs... we were like uhhh NOT happening!

I LOVE this idea!! So what it's a lot of work?! It's worth it if it'll bring that little sentimentality to your wedding that'll make it unique!! IMO I think you should do it!!

That's what I think too! I bake them in mini-muffin tins so they would fit perfect in truffle boxes.. it would look nice AND be inexpensive ANDDDDD be totally 'us'. I could even make them a month ahead and freeze them til a few days before. Our wedding is the Weds. before Thanksgiving so we are lucky in that we will have the weekend prior to do last minute things without it being too far ahead. I thought it was a cute idea... you have me thinking I should do it anyway now lol.

Thank you for the encouragement!!!

Re: Why don't you....

I got one for you guys. Back when fh and I got engaged we thought about our engagement party. At first we were going to ask a family friend if we could do it at their some-what of a legion hall & my mom rolled her eyes. My sister's father in law is a member there so she had her engagement party & bridal show there, but yet that was okay.

THEN,

we said we might do it in fh parent's backyard where I threw fh surprise 30th birthday keep in mind and my mom said that's soooOOoo not classy.

Therefore fh and i will NOT be having an engagement party now all because of my mom and her BIG mouth.

Ughhh! NOO! Don't let the crap influence you. If you want to have one, have it! I had to settle on location of mine b/c we are having it thrown FOR us so it is not exactly what I would have liked. I was actually pretty upset at first (it sounds like a lot more of a loud party than I wanted, I am more low key) but I decided it would be a great celebration no matter where it was held because we are so excited to be engaged. If it's not too late I think you should still do it!!!

we should have a shy girls GTG! I just couldn't meet all those new people at once today. But if home made pastries are involved, I might be tempted to go.
