Ok - Please let me know if I am the only one going through this or if it is just me.
So for the past six months I have been searching for RH and just started seriously calling places to get quotes ect. (I know I'm way behind but that is a whole other story). Now I am finding I don't meet the mins or the its out of my price range or they are booked!!!!!!!
Sorry I feel like this is a total vent!

Re: Why is finding a RH so hard?
You girls are so nice!!!
I am looking for December 2010 (I know this is the 2011 room - but its so close to 2011). FH and I wil have about 100-125 guests.
I looked at carlyle on the green and the carltun and they were both a bit out of our price range and we just don't meet the mins. Same for the Inn and New Hyde Park - and they have limited dates!
I guess I'm just in freak out mode now..

Re: Why is finding a RH so hard?
Are you looking for a Saturday? Day or evening? Does any of that matter?
Saturdays evenings are going to have the highest guarantees. Inn at NHP wanted 225 in Sept!! Crazy! We wound up striking a deal with Mr. Russo for our minimum.
But anyway, Day weddings will be cheaper and have a lower min than an evening, if that's an option. Friday and Sunday will be better than a Saturday in those terms as well. Do you have your heart set on something? Cause if you do I'm sure it's still doable for you

try chateau la mer... the prices were reasonable and they have a smaller room as well as a big ball room

Re: Why is finding a RH so hard?
you should check out the fox hollow. They have a beautiful room called the Winter Garden Pavillion and for a friday night in June of 2011 the min was 110. The prices were very reasonable, and yours would probably be less than mine because you are looking at December.

Re: Why is finding a RH so hard?
ugh, finding a RH was so hard! Everyone said you just know it when you see it and I didn't believe it, thought I'd be the only one that didn't happen to, but they were right! When you see the right one, you'll know it! I found this site really helpful - Click Here I was looking for around the same range of people (somewhere between 100 and 150). Check out the Watermill - its so beautiful! There are so many gorgeous places, don't stress!! Everyone on this site is really helpful, so just tell us what you're looking for and we'll try to help!

Re: Why is finding a RH so hard?
Trying to find the right reception hall can be stressul. Just try to relax and know that you will eventually find your dream reception hall. What exactly are you looking for?
You should definitely check out the Old Field Club in Setauket. That is where my reception is going to be. It is very elegant, has high vaulted ceilings and it's right on the water. The price is 110pp for a Friday or Sunday wedding and 130pp for a Saturday wedding. I think the minimum number people required for a Friday or Sunday is 100 or 110 and for a Saturday it's 120 (the room holds a max of about 160 but that would definitely be a little too tight). They only have one event PER DAY; therefore, you have the flexibility to have your reception start whenever you want it to. If you have any questions, let me know. And try to tell yourself that you WILL find your dream RH..you just need to give yourself a little more time to find the right one!! HTH!

Re: Why is finding a RH so hard?
Someone mentioned it above, the Winter Pavilion at Fox Hollow would be really nice for a December wedding of your size. The Fox Hollow is reasonably priced too.
Look into the Swan Club - they have a few room options, and also priced very reasonable.
I think The Woodlands requires a minimum of 150, but I'm not sure.
Hope this helps!

Re: Why is finding a RH so hard?
I totally agree with the Winter Garden room at Fox Hollow...it's such a beautiful room that i would have gone with had my guest list been a lot smaller

Re: Why is finding a RH so hard?
No the woodlands does parties of all sizes. I only have a minimum of 50 and they were very accommodating. However for a Saturday night it may be higher.
