So we went to see FM entertainment today, and they seem pretty good. The question is, they are less than half the price of other dj's (Body Rock, Spin around sound, Bravura, etc).
Has anyone used them? Know of any good or bad experiences?
I want to cut costs, but I also don't want to suffer poor quality.

I have seen posts on a couple of people using them. Maybe it is because of the price, I would do a search or check the brides review for a review. Maybe they are the one company that doesn't jack up prices for a wedding? Wishful thinking? GL

I don't know anything about FM Entertainment .... but I do strongly believe that *you get what you pay for* with most things in life
The entertainment is such a big part of the wedding reception (band or dj) .... IMHO, it can make or break the reception

Honestly, I'm not sure I believe the you get what you pay for here... a few things...
You may have seen when you were there, weddings are not all they do... they have a whole place set up to host children's birthday parties. In fact, the mommy and daddy's that need a Spunge Bob at their little 2 y.o.'s party (who won't remember it - but I swear when I was there a set of parent's were booking a pretty happining party for their 2 y.o.) are probably absorbing the cost a bit (no pun intended - spunge/absorb... nevermind). I think that helps with a lot of their overhead. All the reviews I've seen on here are positive. I booked them on the spot.
On a side note that I think is worthy of mention regarding their business practices, the reason I even knew about them was b/c my sister had a fund raiser she was coordinating and they were one of not many entertainment companies on LI who were willing to work a charitable event for 'free'. What they did get out of it was free advertising. They did a great job and they are the nicest people. I have no worries on this, in fact it's really something I'm not even thinking much about b/c I'm completely confident in them.

You should do a search & read some bride reviews about them.. From the research that I have done on them they seem to be a favorite of past brides...I have read nothing but good things.
You should give them a call & attend a showcase.

I agree with the poster who said they are cheaper because weddings aren't there only business. And I'm not a believer in you get what you pay for. It doesn't take a rocket scientest or brain surgoes to DJ a wedding. I don't need a professional DJ. I was very impressed with Frank's showcase and I have every expectation he will do a good job at my wedding.

I had heard that FM was moving to California next year......I could be wrong, but I thought I read that somewhere.....although I'm sure Frank would tell you if they were. I thought he was great when I went to the showcase, FH was in love w/ Starlight Express though, so that's who we booked.

Absolutely right!!! I agree completely. Just because something is more expensive doesn't mean it's better!!! If you read past reviews on FM, you'll read many positive things about them. As for why their prices are lower, why wonder about it? Just be glad and appreciate it.

FM has lots of highly recomendations there are lots of posts on here! I met w/ Frank and he did a showcase OMG it was awesome!!! I can't wait to party down with them!!! Also just to note they are not moving to Cali---please let's not start that again

I booked with FM, I think they're great and very accomodating. They have rave reviews on here from numerous brides. As to why their prices are lower than most, who knows... I don't believe this is a 'get what you pay for' type of thing though.

We book FM also. Their showcase was great and Frank was so nice. I didn't read anything negative about them during my research. I think you'll absolutely get what you pay for. IMO the other DJ's are over charging and you aren't getting nearly enough for your money.

I booked FM as well, and I am confident that they will do a great job. I'm also not a believer in the 'you get what you pay for' mentality. In all the research I've done, it's shocked me just how much people overcharge as soon as you say the word 'wedding.'

Our DJ was a lot cheaper than the one who's office we went to, on a prime piece of business zoned land on Rte 25 with 4 offices, a receptionist, and a parking lot. I was not surprised that they were out of my price range.

FM is great.. Frank is a great guy and very accomodating with ideas and just good at what he does... more personable i found than the others...
i dont believe in the you pay what you get for thing... esp in this case..
a lot of places in my search were more expensive because of overhead charges they have to cover.. big fancy offices and cd handouts.. and so on..
if you liked FM then book them.. dont think about the price thing think of it as a good deal for a great DJ...

I booked FM. But i had done research and was going to go with FM or Unlimited. I compared the two and posted a poll asking for advice. And suprisingly everyone recommended using FM. FH and I met with frank and felt completely comfortable with him and just got a good vibe. We asked if there was anyway to lower the price if we paid cash and he said there wasnt because his prices are low compared to others( Which is true). He said he's a family man and he understands the costs of events, and doesnt see the need to high price you for no reason. I thought that was really nice, and he additionally didnt try to SELL us anything we didnt want or need.

I dont have experience w/ them, but i would say dont fall for 'you get what you pay for' in all cases...i think many wedding related businesses take advantage of the fact that many brides will pay ridiculous prices for their wedding day. JMO!

I couldnt agree more!! as soon as you say 'wedding' everyone jacks up the prices! Its so ridiculous!!

I used FM Entertainment for my wedding this past January and Frank was awesome! His prices are great, but if you want some crazy light show and a ton of add ons he does that too. We just wanted someone who would play good music and didn't want anything else. Everyone literally danced the night away...even my 82 year old grandmother got on the dance floor a few times. he is really good at keeping things flowing and I fully recommend him.
