Why is Harbor Club so cheap???

Original post by 2006bride

I am seriously considering booking there, but it seems a little too good to be true.

Does anyone have any opinions on why they charge such a low amount???

Please share experiences. THANKS

Re: Why is Harbor Club so cheap???

We had it down to three: Lands End, Harbor Club and Crescent Club. (Water was a must for us.)

Harbor Club was our second choice. I think it's a great price for an elegant, waterfront, one wedding at a time venue. The wall of windows ensuresthat you always have a great view throughout the reception, and the banquet manager we dealt with was so nice and accommodating.

Most of the people I talked to had nothing but nice things to say about the place. One of FMIL's friends said that she went to a weddingthere and the service was lousy, but that was the first negative I encountered. That didn't really sway me, because you'll always find someone who has a complaint with any place you pick. As far as the parking lot is concerned, we were told it's under construction, but who knows how longthta will take?

We ended up going with Lands End, because the logistics of an outdoor ceremony seemed better there, they have a small stretch of beach, and we preferred the open water to the harbor. But Harbor Club was definitely a close second!

Best of luck with your decision!

I looked there, but didnt like the fact that my ceremony would be overlooking the town parking lot.

Otherwise, it was pretty nice.

I agree, $107 for a Sat night in June or July and that would be great. But for Spring, not really.

I went to a wedding there in October of last year and I can honestly say that even though it rained that day, it was THE best wedding I had ever been to. I think the people make a big difference but the hall was great, food was good too. I think that if you have good music and fun people it doesnt matter where you have it. But the HC was excellent in my opinion. Maybe a mirror or two too many but thats all! Oh, and I dont think they had a bridal suite but I could be wrong.

The wedding I went to was on a Saturday night, guess they had a slow Friday that week because everything was clean and the staff was great.

Wanted to say ours was on a Sunday day and it was GREAT...the only parking lot issue was when you first come in, but they have Valet and the area where the valet parks the cars is fine...The views were amazing, best food I can remember and amazing staff...they were a little out of our budget plus we wanted somewhere family had not been so thats the only reason we didnt book them!

IMO that's not cheap either. I'm paying less than 1/2 of that per guest for a top menu in high season. You must figure in taxes and gratuity and do the math. Don't think per person. If you are having 200 people that's... $21,400 for reception alone... not including taxes, gratuity, and everything else... that's my entire wedding budget. Do you get flowers or anything else with that price? If you have a $45,000-$60,000 wedding budget then ok. I guess cheap is a relative term. Just think big picture. I think a lot of people go over their budget because they don't multiple the per person cost.

It is all relative because some of the halls can run $185 + pp ... so depending on what you're looking for or the places you have looked at it may be on the less expensive side.
